Well that’s what I meant, actually. Crossovers tend to give more options to fans in terms of who to pair someone with, and that availability means characters with similar personalities can be used, where normally there may not be in those respective franchises. Same applies to characters with opposing personalities.
THAT SAID, when 94 SonicxRainbow Dash pics are posted in a DAY, people can get rather irate, and who can blame them? Some may even be genuinely well-made, but just posted at the wrong time. Right place, wrong time.

What about the crossovers then? I understand if was just Cartuneslover, but I’d like to hear your opinions.
Also, it’s not that ALL sonic-shipping is bad, but the problem stems from when it occurs in “bursts” in which massive piles of fanart are posted all at once.
If it was occasional, I can guarantee a lot of the art would have better scores than they do, but I vividly recall going through, like, ten pages consecutively of that stuff in the past while doing an “All Images”-search.
Well to be fair to the downvoters, mordetwi IS typically Cartuneslover.
Don’t forget about crossovers with everything under the sun, Sonic shipping, MordeTwi, etc.

Let me tell you other things people downvote for: Presence of Spider Man, Presence of Flash Sentry, IMPLIED Presence of Flash Sentry, Derpy un-derped, Twilight with wings, Sweetie Belle and Button Mash, Sweetie Belle and somepony that’s NOT Button Mash, aaaaand… anything that goes against their own personal headcanons.

It’s more a joke based around any time Maud showing emotion on Derpibooru is greeted with a series of downvotes by “diehard fans” because they claim she doesn’t show emotion, and that’s her appeal, despite it not being her NOT showing emotion, but rather, the difference in how she shows it compared to her sister.
I have to wonder if that “you’re going off the rails” line is actually implying that this is the case.

This kind of reminded me when Ulquiorra yelled at Ichigo when he was attempting to stand after getting tossed around by his ressureccion.
