Spitfire is a manipulative vindictive bitch and that story. She basically emotionally manipulated RD up until this point so she could purposely blow up at her in front of all of her friends and family.

I’m going to be completely honest, I think the only Wonderbolts I even like anymore are Soarin, Thunderlane and Rainbow Dash.

From Chapter 30 of The Simple Life

“Do you know why I didn’t let you in?” Spitfire asked.

“Yeah, you’re a jealous little bitch!” Rainbow snapped. “You saw me flirting with Soarin’ and did everything in your power to keep us apart. But I guess the jokes on you, isn’t it Spitfire? You and he broke up after that day on the Equus, and you guys have been drifting further and further apart ever since. I know you think you two are still best friends or whatever it is that you think you two are, but trust me, one of these days he’s gonna see right through you!” Rainbow Dash couldn’t hide the nefarious smile that began to grow on her face as she decided to pour salt in the wound. “And when he does, I’m gonna be there, and you know it! And that burns you up!”

“Dash!” Spitfire gasped, “W-what are you talking about! I didn’t because I didn’t think you were ready yet! I just wanted to you go through the proper academy training and..”

“You are such a little liar!” Dash snapped. “Are you serious right now?! If that was the case, you would have pinned me at the ceremony today! But no! You didn’t want to pin me because you don’t like me! Because I’m arrogant right? Because I’m some horrible little mare!”

“What?! No! The reason I didn’t pin you at the ceremony was-“

“Because you hate my guts! Because you can’t stand me!’ Rainbow interrupted. Spitfire looked uncharacteristically hurt and vulnerable, and all though Dash didn’t know why, she was going to capitalize. “Above all else… because you can’t stand that I’m dating Sonic!”

“Dash I-”

“Well guess what bitch! The worst mistake you ever made was telling me how much the hedgehog loved me and how much that it hurt you! Well guess what!? He still loves me! I’m probably the best thing he’s got going for him right now, and you know what! He doesn’t mean SHIT to me! There is nothing you can say! Nothing you can do to change that! So you’re gonna have to live your miserable little life knowing that Sonic, your friend! Is in love with a girl who doesn’t love him back and that it’s all your fault!”

“Dash!” Spitfire tried to respond, “Dash I-”

“And you wanna know what the best part is Cap?” Dash said confidently, stepping forward as she saw Spitfire shrink under her verbal assault. “I broke up you and Soarin’! I ruined whatever you had with him! And when Soarin’ finally wises up and sees you for what you are, a slithering little snake, he’s gonna leave you! And when he does! I’m gonna be there for him to make him forget all about you! Just like you’ll have to be there for Sonic, because I’m gonna break his heart in to a million pieces!” Dash concluded with finality. Her chest heaved with exertion and want of the fight Spitfire promised, especially with how frail and broken Spitfire looked. Dash snorted hot air through her nostrils as she grinned evilly at Spitfire

“Dash,” Spitfire almost whispered as she reached into her saddle bag and pulled out a small object that caused Dash to immediately lose all the wind in her sails. The tell-tale glint of gold and elaborate design of wings was unmistakable, a Wonderbolt Warfare Device. “The reason I didn’t pin you at the academy… why I brought you here…” Spitfire sighed sadly. “Was so I could pin you in front of all your friends.”

Dash felt sick.

Her heart thundered, sweat beaded on forehead, her stomach did somersaults, and her head felt dizzy as she slowly registered what Spitfire just said. She took a step back in disbelief.

“No…” she mumbled quietly. “No…”

She heard a click and the room was quickly illuminated from somepony pulling on a string attached to the barn’s main ceiling lights. As they hummed to life, Dash looked around and saw balloons, streamers, and banners with the words ‘Congratulations Ensign Dash!’ plastered on them. She saw presents piled in one corner of the barn and a large, over the top cake that she could only imagine that Pinkie Pie would have made. However, that was not what unnerved her.

It was the shocked, sad and despondent faces that now surrounded her. She turned to her left and, Twilight, Apple Jack, Pinkie Pie, Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Rarity. She spun completely around only to see Fluttershy, Big Macintosh, Scootaloo, Luna and Foxtrot. She spun around and around, her eyes jumping from face to face as her horror grew.

“No…” She muttered again. “No, no NO! Guys! Wait! It’s not wh-”

“HOW COULD YOU!” Scootaloo shouted!

“Wait, Squirt! Hang on!” Rainbow pleaded as she quickly galloped to the small filly.

“How could you be such a huge JERK!” the filly screamed angrily at her face before running as fast as she could out of the barn.

“Scoot’s wait!” Rainbow desperately called after her.

“I reckon she ain’t wanna talk to you right now,” Apple Bloom cut in as she and Sweetie Belle quickly made for the barn door after her.

“Yeah, and neither do we!” Sweetie Belle spat out as she left in her high-pitched, slightly cracked voice.

“I got ‘em,” Foxtrot announced as he rushed out of the barn door after them.

Rainbow felt weak, too weak to chase after them as she watched them go, and tried to look to her other friends for any form of comfort or pity, but the moment her eyes met with Pinkie Pie’s she knew she would receive none.

“This is one party I’m not even gonna try and fix,” the pink pony said sadly as she two trotted for the door. As she did, Fluttershy, Big Mac, Apple Jack and Rarity quickly fell in step behind her. All of the eager to get out of the barn and away from Rainbow Dash.

“Wait you guys,” Rainbow Dash pleaded. “Don’t go…”

“Rainbow,” Rarity spoke coldly as she turned to face the cyan mare. “We’re not the ones you should be trying to get to stay.”

Rainbow felt a shiver up her spine as the fashionista exited as quickly looked back around the room. With less ponies, Rainbow saw in the back three figures that broke her spirit entirely. There in the back, was her father, Rainbow Blitz, an older, tall, dark blue pegasus stallion with a rainbow mane that jutted out messily stood beside her mother, Firefly, a pink pegasus mare with blue, spikey hair and twin blue lightning bolts for a cutie mark and navy blue spikey hedgehog.

The stallion had an angry and disappointed countenance about him and the pink mare had a fore hoof stretched out, gently rubbing the hedgehog’s back with an apologetic look on her face, as Sonic had fallen on his hands and knees to the ground.

“S-Sonic,” Rainbow Dash stuttered as she felt a tight lump in her throat as she stumbled closer to the trio. “Sonic, please… hear me out. I didn’t-”

The hedgehog quickly righted himself to sprinter’s position and took off. Kicking up dirt and hay in his wake, Dash could barely follow his movements, and if not for the settling dust behind him, would not have even known he had left. Her bottom lip began to quiver as she made a feeble attempt to go after him, but stopped one step into the motion knowing it was futile. She turned back and faced her parents.

“Mom…” she uttered meekly. The pink pegasus gave Dash her full attention and quickly began to trot towards her, “Mom I-” was all she got out before Firefly’s hoof found its way to her cheek and delivered a smart slap across her muzzle. All Rainbow Dash could do was lift her own her hoof to the spot where her mother had struck her and look at her with wide eyes as she watched the older mare storm towards the barn door and hastily make her exit.

“Your mother and I,” a voice spoke out to her, bring her attention back, only to see her father standing over her, “were looking forward to meeting the boy that you were talking about. We really liked him, he’s a good kid,” her father sighed despondently, “Shame we can’t say the same thing about our daughter.”

Rainbow Dash fell to back onto her haunches, broken and defeated at the words of her father, as the stallion slowly turned and took off after his wife. The cyan pegasus looked at the only friend she had left in the room and as far as she was concerned at the moment, the entire world, Twilight Sparkle. The purple unicorn had nothing to say however, and could only stare at what she had just born witness to. Doing the only thing she could, Twilight shook her head in defeat and looked at the barn floor. Rainbow Dash could no longer hold back tears as she began to cry.

Out of curiosity, is Spitfire a villain of that story? I’m just asking, because that’s incredibly villainous and oddly….Given her recent appearances, it wouldn’t be too far of a stretch. Not a villain per se, but more of really antagonistic.

“Rainbow Dash,” Spitfire called out with authority.

Rainbow turned.

“Please come forward.”

She wasn’t sure why, but her legs obeyed as she stepped towards the yellow mare, tears pouring down her face as she sobbed.

“I now bestow upon you the Wonderbolt Warfare Designation Pin and with it, all of the duties and responsibilities befitting the title. Your might will uphold the weak. Your wrath will undo the wicked. You are an Equestrian Wonderbolt and as such, sworn to service to her majesty Princess Celestia, the Kingdom of Canterlot, and the great nation of Equestria,” Spitfire announced as she gently pinned the Wonderbolt Warfare Device to Dash’s chest.

“T-this…” Dash babbled through her tears. “This was supposed to be the greatest day of my life.”

“Dash,” Spitfire sad softly, resting her forehooves on her shoulders as she smiled gently smile “Fly after him, tell him the truth,” She moved in close so she could now whisper into Dash’s ear. “He’s not going to listen. He’s going to run from you. And when he does, I’m gonna make him forget all about you. I keep my promises, Dash. I told you I’d break you in half.” She pulled back and spoke in a normal tone. “So Ensign Dash? You’re officially a Wonderbolt under my command. How does it feel? Is it everything you dreamed it would be? You just said that this was supposed to be the greatest day of your life,” A sinister grin took up residence across the Captain’s face. “Right?”
