I’ve tried to figure out the bra sizing system many times, asking questions from my female friends, but it defeats me every time.
 
The basic idea - you measure around the ribcage, then across the breasts, the difference in measurements tells you the cup size of the bra - is simple, but apparently where, exactly, you take the measurement varies between countries, the boobs-to-ribcage difference gives a different cup size at different points of the scale (and of course works differently in different countries), and the labeling of the cup sizes beyond D is utterly erratic and non-Euclidean.
 
It’s a confusing mess that leaves men baffled, and a lot of women wearing wrong size bras.
