Meh. I like Trixie and Maud as they are, and I just can’t stand this ship. No matter how many people try to explain ‘how’ and ‘why’ it can make sense, I just can’t see past shoving two popular mares together because lesbians.
I like nonsense ships, but this one just feels a bit more forced into place than some others, and the fact that it is growing far faster than otehr ships I legitly like and have existed for way longer, it’s just a bit insulting. But I should really stop being surprised when a lesbian ship gets popular.

Well, to start off, there’s the convenience of Trixie working in her down-time at Pinkie’s rock farm, where Maud lived at that point, so logic would say they could’ve met.
Then, there’s the personality compatibility. Trixie the outspoken, boisterous, blowhard and Maud has somewhat relaxed, solid, nigh-cataonic attitude. Given that this doesn’t stop her from perceiving other’s feelings, she might just see that Trixie is still pretty hurt from the nosedive it took at that point, and volunteer to, as the saying goes, be her rock, something Trixie sorely needs. Opposites attract and such.
And, I really like theses ponies separately, so together, they’re even better.
Somebody else could probably put all that better, but that’s my best put explanation.
