We get incredible pictures of all the other characters. And Twilight does get drawn, just not as much.

Sure, those accusations against Twilight are legitimate, but really, you could actually successfully levy Mary Sue accusations at any one of the Mane 6.  
For instance, Rainbow Dash up there: she’s probably the best flier in the show, but how often do you actually see her practicing her skills? Outside of the episode Rainbow Falls, I literally can’t think of one example.  
And the other one up there, Fluttershy: a deep, nearly instinctive connection with animals is one of the most widely recognized classic Mary Sue characteristics.  
I just don’t understand why when any character has an ability or knows somebody that sets them above other characters, they get the Mary Sue accusation. I mean, if they were just average, why should we care about them?

It’s not asinine, they’re legitimate reasons. I tend to look at her as a whole character, but it’s Sundown’s art, he draws who he wants.

From what I’ve heard, Sundown didn’t really like her even before her alicorn-ication. He (or she?) thinks Twilight is a bit of a Mary Sue, a character too perfect to really be believable, which makes sense, I guess.
 
Incredibly talented and powerful from a fairly young age? Check.
 
Meets a group of soon-to-be-best-friends in her first few days in a new town? Check.
 
Close presonal friend with the (closest thing to a) resident goddess? Check.
