Which, given that she’s a horse, means those Changelings are deceased.
Or maybe she snapped when dinky and amethyst got cornered
a valid point, and to which i concede that drunken hoof, as i like to call it, would indeed be more suited to pegasi, while more physical, direct would indeed be in an earth pony’s realm
A pegasus is more likely to practice dodging, I’m sure; lighter bones. An earth pony will take the hit and come back at you. A unicorn will throw a shield, and when penetrated, probably mix it up, dodging or rolling with it rather than taking it head on.
A changeling with more martial skill than these guys would probably practice a very adaptive style, maybe even taking various forms more suitable for a particular opponent. Remember that Chrysalis was able to shapeshift into Celestia in the middle of the fight, making Twilight hesitate.
also, its kinda funny how tavi took, and blocked mind you, a good amount of hits, while derpy was fighting 4 on 1 and took NONE
i actually like the idea of calling it drunken hoof :P
Nopony seems to complain when Sanji does it… :\
I wasn’t trying to convince you, but yes, this argument grows wearisome.
I think it’s clear neither of us is going to convince the other. Agree to disagree?
Dude. You have no idea how many times I’ve argued “that’s not how it works”; nor how many times others have done the same.
Real-world physics is all we have to compare to. By assuming that most things are the same to our world, we can have a clearer picture of what things are realistic and what things aren’t. It’s simple. It’s streamlined. Best of all, it makes fucking sense.
Yes, it’s a fantasy world. Yes, that means that no statement ever made about it would ever be accurate. You could say the sky is made of frosting, and nobody would be able to prove you wrong. You could argue that gravity in Equestria doesn’t exist, and that everything is kept on the ground by magnetism. But that would be pointless and lazy.
So, if everything anyone says about it is making assumptions, why is it so much worse to use real-life tools when measuring it? It’s no more ridiculous than trying to argue anything else.
It’s honestly more silly to get offended by it.
It’s true that I don’t think pony martial arts would reflect human martial arts, but in the show most of my objections come when Rarity does something like stand up on two legs and/or use her front hooves like fists. Ponies kick.
And, uh, that’s what Derpy’s doing here. So I think this is fairly reasonable, in fact.
Well, after you get past “Derpy is secretly a martial arts master.” ;^)
Suspension of disbelief is a fragile thing. I don’t understand how the action here wrecks it for Narlepoax III, but it does, and I know it’s futile to try to explain that it shouldn’t.
“Animated and ponies”
Yes, because anything other than live-action My Little Pony is just ridiculous.
This is a world where weather control is performed by grabbing clouds out of the sky and beating the rain out of them. Where the sun and moon are on manual override. Where Pinkie Pie exists. Trying to argue “that’s not how it works” because it differs from our universe is working off of a flawed premise.
That does help me clarify my opinion here, though.
Realism and fantasy both have their places. Everyone has their preferred blend of the two ingredients.
I, personally, prefer a little more realism than fantasy. Why? I’m not completely sure, but I theorize that it might have something to do with my mechanical mindset.
For me, fantasy isn’t really badass. My mechanical brain just keeps screaming “THAT’S NOT HOW IT WORKS, YOU’RE DOING IT WRONG!!”
Wire-fu is something that typically bugs me. I can’t get into the moment, because I’m distracted by how over-the-top silly everything looks. Making it all animated and ponies just multiplies the silliness by orders of magnitude.
I suppose it would’ve helped if I had bolded, italisized, and underlined mindset.
No, that’s a lie. Nothing I say ever helps. XD
I think he’s making an comparison between the CoD series(realism only, your stance) and nintendo(whimsical fancy, our stance)
I’ll admit that it was a really freaking poorly done comparison, though.
…
I don’t even…
How the fuck did you go from wire-fu to video games?
