This is a perfect description of it.  
So let’s say that, yes, Twilight did have the means to destroy them. What makes you think that she knows it already? How could she know how to conjure some sort of medical spell or fire to cleanse them all? Her library was just overrun with the zombiepones, and she’s not even an alicorn in this comic. She’s not as powerful, so how could she just immediately know, “Oh, Zomies. Better kill all my used-to-be friends because they’re misbehaving!” That’s like saying that she’d kill her friends when they were discorded during the season 2 premier. They were clearly acting different. But did she kill them! Nope.
 
Also, for anyone saying that Jitter’s and Deyo are bad story planners, go take a look at any one of their blogs. I guarantee you’ll change your mind.

Fighting monsters and villains=/=Killing your ex friends and neighbors.  
All you’re doing is making weird excuses and complaints that make no sense on an 8 page webcomic that has only shown the initial outbreak.  
It’s pretty commonplace in any apocalypse wit zombies the initial outbreak wipes out those who were unprepared. The killing/fighting doesn’t happen until people have had the chance to register what’s happened.  
It’s be pretty horrible writing if I made perfectly sound non-infected ponies uncharacteristically become immediate killing machines when confronted with something on this extreme.  
I find it disturbing that you think any sane person would consider killing their friend or neighbor as a first thought when they have no idea what’s happening or if there’s some way to save that friend and snap them back to normal.

and you seem to not realize they have more than once been willing to fight outhers. they are living things and will fight to survive. right now she is seeing their capcity to violence would has someone to protect; spike.
 
and even if the civies would be less willing, there are trained soldiers that can have the magic cast upon them ot protect them form disease.

If it helps any, I love it guys. Although I wouldn’t if it weren’t drawn as well as it is. As it is, you can really see the emotion and trauma in Twilight’s expression, although it also makes the gore really stomach-churning. But that’s just due to the exquisite attention to detail. All in all, well done!
