Removing the CmC but adding in characters like fancy pants? KIlling off certain members of the CmC? Pinkie as shadow could work, Shurikens with a name change to pies. Now then how does Pinkie interact with Relm and strago? How does futtershy make a good mog in terms of ability? Not that fluttershy made a good shadow mind. Scoots is shown in show to have that dancing talent after all. How does fancy pants or sweeite even begin to constitute Cid? Zecora would probably make the best CiD imo. Not being able to place a character like relm is a pretty big flaw. Having Trixie and maud interacting is as big of a sin as any of the bad character interactions in the rom.
 
I could go on, but attacking you was never my point. Fitting and reworking characters with existing personalities and context, into a different work that has different context is nigh impossible.
 
There was never going to be a perfect fit. I think they did a good job with it. Could it have been better? Maybe, but not by much. Everytime you make one thing better you’re liable to make another worse after all.

first of all id remove the CMC as playable entirely Fluttershy would live amongst a load of moogles and Angel could replace Umaro (he is a monster after all), Pinkie works as a ninja  
Rarity would be Celes allowing Cid to be replaced with someone like Fancy Pants or Sweetie RD is fast like Locke and fit a number of ponies into Rachel’s place  
Heck Gogo could be all 3 cmc in their monster blanket actually, it;d be a good replacement for why they can do everyone’s moves  
I like the princesses as they are AJ can fit Cyan but have big mac and AB die  
Twilight can be Terra, Trixie as Strago lets you replace Hidon with the Ursa minor actually Setzer could be Fancy pants post losing Fleur  
im only having trouble placing Relm, I wanted to work only with season 2 character because its what the original had but I was thinking of replace thamasa with the rock farm and having Trixie live with Maud, you can replace the sketch ability with rocks and I like Spike as Gau here

People keep saying this, but they never say how they’d change it. Say you change rarity to setzer. What about Sweetiebell? How does this affect blue mage village? How does this affect the entire only unicorns can use magic mechanic? (Which is a really good idea) The only interactions setzer really has is with a dead woman and celes, sweetie wouldn’t make a good celes and therefore their sisterly interactions would be minimal. It’s the same situation currently with applejack and applebloom.
 
I’m just saying, the modder did a great job of fitting the characters into the FF6 context.
 
Cases like seth, well, there are some legitimately bad choices sure but I reiterate that it was well really well overall.

this isnt based off of Pony Fantasy six though, moreover many of the character choices were pretty bad in that

If I hadn’t played PF6, then I wouldn’t complain about the character positions. The only thing that matches from the game is Twilight Terra and Trixie Relm.

Yeah, i was one of the testers for the beta version. It was sweet, although i disagreed with many on the chosen characters.

I’m gonna throw this out there, but you guys know there is a FF6 pony rom hack right? Pony Fantasy 6.

Rarity as Setzer, alright, but what’s with the scars?  
I get having Mac as Sabin, muscles and all, but why isn’t AJ or AB Edgar then? Or if AJ is Strago, shouldn’t AB be Relm? That would kinda fit. AB is good with props and painting, right?  
I also get Luna as Shadow, but can’t help but want her as Cyan - or rather Ms. Thou.
