The ‘R’ Word is a bit strong and overused, you don’t need to have a genealogical mental issue to be dumb. And on a similar note, obliviousness does not mean you’re dumb, it just means you’re ditzy (No pun intended), and clumsiness is most likely due to her strabismus, which can badly affect depth perception.
What’s the issue here? Are people really in such denial about her being retarded?
She was oblivious to her clumsiness, she was shown multiple times to be dumb. Maybe it’s been a while since you guys actually looked at the canon stuff, but she is an idiot.
But Watchmojo are pretty bad anyway. Most of their lists are as bad as a 12yr old’s “best games” list. Totally random and fully opinionated. Not based on real quality.
Alright. First of all, Derpy is my favorite pony. I want to say what I am really thinking about this.
These are the Top 10 Dumbest Characters. Derpy is NOT in the Top 10. She is just a mention Johnny Bravo and Cosmo. That means she is still smarter than Beavis and Butt-head.
But I must say I would never say that Derpy is dumb. She is just very clumsy for me.
And that’s the thing, the fandom’s version of Derpy - and what her appearances in the show make her to be - doesn’t have her dumb, but klutzy - very different things.
I think she was originally meant to be seen as having less than average intelligence given that her original name was Ditzy Doo. However, I do tend to think of her as more clumsy and scatterbrained than actually stupid in genral.
