Because the only way this wouldn’t be too heavy to work is if they used a light tank (and even then it barely worked). And once tank combat in WWII really started to get going, people quickly realized that light tanks suck.

Yeah. During the test flight, the pilot of the towing aircraft had to ditch the tank almost immediately after takeoff to avoid crashing (both the plane and the tank landed safely).

If I get this wrong I’m sorry, apparently the soviet union didn’t have an aircraft strong enough to tow the tank so they decided to scrap it.

Easier to make a bigger glider and put a small tank in it, in addition to infantry units to support the tank. ref: tanks without infantry support both have nothing to do and will do nothing
