Except Bats had none of those qualities, especially in the case of the moral.
 
Over here in Australia, we are often in the exact same situation as Applejack was in during the episode, i.e. a bunch of bleeding heart environmentalists are ignoring the issues that having bats around causes, especially to farmers, and then strong-arming them into taking on a pest species.

It had “everything the fandom wanted to see,” in a sense. Too bad it was very sorely lacking in the other traits you mentioned. But I’m going to avoid opening old wounds by going further into it.

Quality doesn’t just mean the animation is good. It means it has a good story, good jokes, good moral, characters in character, and everything the fandom wants to see.

The quality of the animation doesn’t necessarily make it a good episode. After all, Bats advocating allowing pests to run rampant.

Also, if you look carefully at the background, you will note it is upsampled from a raster source, possibly a screencap.

I also note that the ponies here hilariously seem to be derived from stock vectors.
 
And yes, I’m cringing at the inclusion of my absolute least favorite episode from S4 on there (“Bats!”).
