True words. Its hard to say where romantic “twispike” starts or ends when it concerns those two. They do have bond that doesn’t have specified name, wouldn’t be surprising if romance buds in the future but it might as well not. That said, beautiful piece of art, those two are inseparable and this captures its magic.

We really need to do something about how these tags work. “TwiSpike” is a genuine relationship in the show. Spike has worried about Twilight not loving him anymore, and his worst fear is being separated from her. Twilight shows genuine concern for him and his personal issues above and beyond that of any of her other friends, and there is no character who she has hugged more. They share the same bedroom, and no two characters have spent more time in physical contact.

That being said, there is no way that their relationship is romantic in nature. It is beautiful, it is wonderful… but it isn’t the stuff of common, banal ships. They have a relationship that is undeniable, but it isn’t kissy-sighy. It is family, but something else, too.

Reading the artists description, it was not her intent to show this as anything more than Twilight thinking about the boy who has always been there for her, and who she has watched grow up. There is no call, want, or need for the “Shipping” and “Straight” tags. If this image were of a grown Spike and more mature Twilight sharing an embrace as they sleep, then there certainly would be reasonable cause for those tags, but a relationship as they have in the show does not warrant them.

That being said, it is a wonderful image of the two characters in the show who share the most unique—and most wonderful—bond, and DrawingGirl546 should be proud of her accomplishment. I certainly thank the BP who uploaded the piece for us to enjoy, and encourage him to find more of the same. But please—let’s call a spade a spade.
