Star Wars has super tech. Getting cut in half need not be necessarily fatal. Wouldn’t it have been better if Darth Maul had been rebuilt with a lower robotic half? Obi-Wan would be freaked out when Maul reappears stronger than before and the two could have motivation and character growth from their conflict.
 
I’ve another idea to toss out. When Maul is rebuilt he meets with Darth Sidious on Coruscant and apologizes for failing to kill both the Jedi and for not holding Naboo. Sidious explains Maul’s failure is tolerable because he feels Obi-Wan is now filled with rage and will strike down Maul and become his new apprentice and that he sensed the force strongly in Obi-Wan when they crossed paths in the Jedi Chamber. What Darth Sidious doesn’t know is that he actually sensed Anakin.

So if Darth Maul survived this confrintation, where does he actually return?, And when?
