Given that it didn’t occur to Twilight that Celestia was around a thousand years ago, I seriously doubt that long life is standard for winged unicorns.

Also, it’s clear Twilight forgot her lesson in “It’s About Time”, about not worrying about the future.

The only things I hate about this panel is it being in the comics and presumably staying there, and it’s brevity.

If you’re suggesting you’re going to live forever, Twi, I suggest you put it past that until Hasbro confirms that you’re immortal (and Cadance too, which is stupid because…why the hell would a forever-living alicorn marry an aging unicorn?!).

That’s where things get weird. The starburst was on the Element of Magic to begin with, and we know that other ponies have that starburst, including Twilight’s own brother, Photo Finish, and by implication, Twilight’s uncle.
 
So, someone with a twinkle of light in their cutie mark comprises more ponies than just Twilight Sparkle.

It wasn’t fate that called upon Twilight. It was Celestia. Celestia sent Twilight the spell. Celestia knew what the spell would do.

The spell contained on the last page of this book is Star Swirl the Bearded’s secret unfinished masterpiece. He was never able to get it right, and thus abandoned it. I believe you are the only pony who can understand and rewrite it. Princess Celestia.
 
All I am saying is that Celestia made Twilight a princess without consulting Twilight about the decision first. You can’t blame the spell, you can’t blame fate. And according to the comic, Twilight had different aspirations in life that Celestia presumably did not take into account.

A spell that Celestia sent to Twilight, not explaining what it was, knowing full well what its consequences would be. Face it, the spell was just another test for Twilight, only this one was not explained to her ahead of time.  
Did Celestia ever ask Twilight if she wanted to be a Princess or an Alicorn? No. Did Twilight have any ambitions or dreams to be a princess? According to this, No.
