The problem isn’t the media or a ethereal “idea” of pedophilia. The problem is similar to the argument regarding how guns don’t kill people, people do.
 
The notion that “society” views a particular group as a scapegoat is simply a way to dissociate oneself from their own desire to use another person as a scapegoat for their own misdeeds. The fact that the DSM V designates this behavior as the baseline for lack of mental illness is rather distressing.
 
In my particular locality, by accepted psychiatric guidelines, I would be considered a schizophrenic due to my unwillingness to accept the legitimacy of many members of my town pulling a man out of his house, tying him to a sedan, and dragging him to death. Those features, due to being considered “behavior that is considered odd”, and “inconsistent with subcultural norms” would make me a full-blown schizophrenic, according to DSM V unless I drag a man out of his house, arbitrarily accuse him of being a paraphiliac, and murder him.
 
The real issue is the fact that the people who hate paraphiliacs, whether they’re homosexuals, furries, or whatever lack empathy for other human beings and will be more than willing to harm them for their own pleasure. They will also be more than willing to harm you, me, and everyone else that is unwilling to allow them to do so, as well as those unwilling to support them in their attacks on others.

you forgot to mention that this paranoia is causing serious problems in RL, men are now too scare to getting close to kids even if they really need help, the worst part is that this fear is justified, there is a story of a man who saved a kid from getting drowned, what is the first thing the mother do? call the police on the guy for “molesting her kid”, there is another story of a little girl who go lost and then died drowned, a man saw her before she went to the river but he didn’t help her because he was scare of being accused of being a pedo, and another one that will make you lost faith in humanity: in the UK, a public pool evacuated all the kids after a prosthetic leg was found in a looker and that means there is a pedo around targeting the kids.

It’s that we view children as the embodiment of innocence and vulnerability, so the idea of anyone going after them in a violent or sexual way is particularly heinous to us. The result of this - coupled with a sensationalist media - is that we as a society have become conditioned over the last 20 years to be super-duper-over-hyperprotective of children, viewing anything even remotely outside-the-norm as threats and possible pedophilia.
 
The problem comes from the fact that the media has also conditioned us to conflate pedophilia with ephebophilia, when they are in fact quite different in every respect but law. The former is attraction to the prepubescent (i.e. kids), whereas the latter is attraction to post-pubescent-but-still-not-adult (whether they’re consent age depends on jurisdiction).
 
Society needs scapegoats and acceptable targets, things to direct collective ire onto, and pedos are one of the most acceptable targets there is. But this also means that what really is a mental sickness - attraction outside the norm - is treated as a solely criminal matter (which it of course should be if the pedo actually hurts a child), which keeps people who would like and/or need help away from those who could give it.
 
I don’t know or care if Bleedman is a “pedo”, at least not without evidence he’s hurt actual IRL kids. The same accusation has been levelled at other MLP artists too, to the point that I now take any such assertion with a grain of salt. Besides, there’s a world of difference between art and real-life.

Being a “paedophile” and liking to draw cartoon girls (even in blatantly loli pictures) are wildly different things.
 
Also, I don’t like the term “paedophile” - liking children, even in a sexual manner, doesn’t necessarily mean that a person would ever actually act on it in any way. And according to some limited studies on the subject, most child molesters seem to simply be opportunists, rather than sexually attracted to their victims at all.
