Ah! Now it all makes sense!
The most obvious and consistent dimorphism on Breezies is their eyes. If you look at screens of the episode, their eyes are either round or tapered. Seabreeze’s eyes are round. His wife’s are tapered. Ergo, Male = Round, Female = Tapered.
This is corroborated by the the couple that was dancing during their party. The lead (male) had round eyes, and his partner had tapered eyes.
The Mane6 kept their original eye shapes when they transformed into Breezies. And that’s what the joke in this piece is based on.

Well, breezies of both genders look the same, and they don’t seem to sound much different, so my guess is that they either use some sort of pheremone, or careful attention to pronouns is the only thing standing between a breezie and an awkward surprise on date night.

I saw one artist who ponified that group by making Jenny be a pony, Vastra a dragon, and Strax a Diamond Dog.
