And the irony is that Buck Withers’ EQG counterpart is now working for Chrysalis, who was one of his bullying victims in high school. Chrysalis became successful while Buck Withers is reduced to being her doormat.

Chrysalis: Now Buck, I need two coats of wax on my car this time.

Buck Withers: Was just adding the second coat just now Ms. Chrysalis.

Meh ok it does not really bother me that you have a different opinion i was intending to just state that someone is not always right.

sorry if i sound weird i am dead tired so its hard for me to think of sentences.

I still you are overthinking the whole “High school doesn’t exist in Equestria”. But I completely agree that the comics departed from the essence of the show and went for a story that could have been EXACTLY the same with humans or other species. Heck, The Simpsons and The Looney Tunes Show could have done THIS exact story and it could have been totally the same, except that it could match perfectly the essence of those shows.

You can’t just argue the existence of whatever you want simply because it’s theoretically possible, even though nothing like it has even once been depicted in the show. And I have good reason to say that high schools don’t exist in Equestria anyway. In particular, Twilight Sparkle and Sunset Shimmer were high-school age in the human world, but were not going to anything even resembling a high school in Equestria.

Besides, I already pointed out how little need for our absurd little modern invention of high school they have there.

I’m outlining this because one of the reasons that comic annoyed me is how it departed from the essence of what Equestria is like, and basically just told a silly human teen story with a pony wrapper clumsily taped onto it.

Man, I’ve watched Monster High just for the sake of comparison, and Equestria Girls has almost nothing in common with it. I know a lot of people think it does, but they clearly haven’t bothered to make a direct analysis of the two.

As for the rest, you might be quite correct about people reasoning in that way, but as you also pointed out, it’s a sketchy position to say the least.

About the why people hate EqG and praise the comic, here’s what I believe is the reason:

Equestria Girls takes place in a different place WITHOUT magic, and thus it becomes another High School Drama (Although it was more High School Comedy/Adventure) like Monster High and such, a modern setting. The one thing that works there is the presence of two outsiders that bring magic to this world and hijinxs ensue.
While in the comic it goes for an 80’s era High School comedy style, and that’s the reason people seem to like it: It’s not a moden setting so no comparison with Monster High, and it has ponies and not humans. The problem is that it resources a lot in 80’s cliches it gets away from what makes Friendship is Magic what it is, while Equestria Girls despite taking away the magical elements and going for a “realistic” high school setting does a decent work keeping the essence of the show.
Now the comic takes place in a High School, but it de

People change in small ways. Most don’t do a complete 180 unless something very dramatic impacts them, and that’s not what we see in Shining’s life. Before he ever met Cadance, his path to the royal guard was determined.

Which leads to another, possibly even more irritating thing about that comic. Whereas I have no problem with a high school existing in Equestria Girls’ human world, as it bears so much similarity to our own, such a thing has never been seen in Equestria, and there’s a very good reason for that. The vast majority of ponies learn specialized trades not long after they earn their cutie marks, and high school is nearly pointless as a result.

No, the comic and the show do not fit together that well. Everything about the Cadance/Shining comic was really contrived and old. I’m surprised so many people would condemn EqG while justifying this.

@Evowizard25
Well, I can’t speak for anyone else, but I thought we were simply having a debate. I don’t mind as long as you don’t tell me to go kill myself, as someone else on this site did…

^ Ok people lets just say we have diffrent opinions.

and you know what? I like both Shining in the comic and show.

and you know what else? you could actually fit the comics with the show.

I want to join the milatary…and i’m not a serious person at all people do change so why can’t Shining?

In the comics, yeah. First she wants them separated, but when they reunited “It was her plan all along.” Let’s not forget how she wanted to destroy Twilight, but when she nearly destroys her, Chrysalis “Didn’t planned to destroy her, but make Twilight her student”.
But in the show, her plan was a solid plan: Take over Canterlot and then over all of Equestria, by marrying Shining Armor and letting her have Political control as a legitimate monarch. An when she was discovered, Chrysalis resorted to plan B: Hostile takeover. She was going to take the city one way or another, and had everything covered… And was defeated by overconfidence rather than a plan with more holes than her legs.

Hence, if she controlled his mind to make him change his mind about an outfit, she probably had influence over him to make him lash out at his own sister. Besides, Twilight sort of had it coming with the way she was acting.

Her ‘brainwashing’ merely turned him into something of an automaton, when it had finally taken effect. Before that, it theoretically just made his headaches worse.

@Evowizard25
Well, she improvised some parts. I don’t know that they made anything worse though.

@Evowizard25
That was sort of clever, in an evil sort of way. Twilight nearly killed her own friend in that moment, and she didn’t even know she was an imposter yet. Twilight got off easy for all that.
