Some shippers remind me of that debate Bill Nye had about creationism, and how the other guy claimed creation was valid because it hasn’t fully proved wrong.
As an actual gay individual it surprises some of the posts I see here.
I mean, what the heck. Background Pony #9503 is right about the assumption that most people (or ponies in this case) are straight. That is why we don’t hit on any random people we happen to feel attracted to.
Sometimes I think all the fans of lesbian ships are just guys who want to clop at the thought of it.
That is a pretty weak argument. For what we have seen heterosexuality is the norm amongst ponies, and assuming they reflect the way humans are (and I don’t see why wouldn’t be the case) then every pony is to be assumed heterosexual unless it is stated otherwise.
Well, gay people make a tiny percent of the population, and lesbians are far less than gay males. So is to be expected the mane six are straight, just like the vast majority of the girls who watch the show.
I wouldn’t completely discard the idea of a “tolerance” episode though, but if it happens it won’t be with the mane six and it most that likely will be with a “friendly but strangely single” gay stallion friend.
@Star Cavalcade
I was more just referring to shippers in general. (Think Spock/Kirk). But at least one half of Rarijack is canonically straight (Rarity).
@OneAmongOthers
Ah yes. The Bisexuality band aid used by shippers. Both halves of your ship are straight in show. Use the bisexuality band aid to repair that.
@Background Pony #9503
Yes, because showing same sex relationships is evil or against society’s norms. So it will never be show. Seems even a show that was made to ‘break the norm’ still is shackled by a fundamental ideal.
@G.S.
Maybe you don’t know them as well as you think you do. I for one was surprised that Rarity’s dresses fit Applejack perfectly. You’d think there’d be SOME different in their bodies.
That isn’t quite true, at least as far as romance goes. You got Cadence and Shining Armor and Flashlight on a lesser extend. As for sex, that’s obvious, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a “You are an aunt, Twilight!” episode.
But I was talking mostly about lesbian ships. Anyone who thinks these are part of the show’s canon is just deluded.
@Background Pony #9503
You won’t really see any ships in the show since it’s aimed mainly towards children. And you don’t show romance or sex in a children’s show.
