Because the prevailing mindset in the media is that romance is the only possible outcome of a close relationship with the opposite gender. I’m just waiting for Cheerimac to be brought up again in the show for this to be proven.
This is true, I have friends of the opposite gender, so why is that not believable?
To tell you the truth, I wouldn’t mind Flash appearing as am actual character if they given him an endearing personality and actual character development. He could rarely show up like Big Mac and other male characters and it would be fine.
I don’t care if the cast is predominantly female, I care if the cast has enjoyable personalities and if they are written well like they do now.

I’m sure that it’s very very few that do. Personally for me it was never about giving Twightlight a love interest that irked me much, she’s not my fave mane 6 pony. It was mainly about the fact that the show was priased for havigna a predominately female cast
I’m okay with his appearance. There’s just those people who seem unusually threatened by him like they have something to lose by him being relevant. But they are in the minority.
