I ran into that problem when I was trying to write an epic adventure fanfic. I couldn’t make up my mind as to whether or not the main villain, who in hindsight was a total Villain Sue because he was able to survive a full blast from the Elements of Harmony with only a minor power reduction, would have henchmen or not.
Matters on the length of the movie. If it’s long enough, they can develop a few leading henchmen. If not, then it would have to focus more on this guy and it’s going to be tricky to make him threatening.
By henchmen, do you mean “mass produced foot soldiers,” or “three or four underlings with varying degrees of intelligence?”
Because if they do… I’m scared. Like, really, really scared.
