Another matter that must be taken into account is the type of projection used in the map. Is the planet of Equestria spherical? If it is, how can the surface of a three-dimensional sphere be transcribed to 2d? What type projection should be used? Mercator? Conical? Robinson? Should the map be reprojected to a sphere and then be redrawn? These are all the things one should think about when making up a fantasy map.
