Actually, the first person to say that they win in argument is usually the guy who’s losing, and claiming Privilege or Patriarchy or Misogyny is just a fancy way of saying ‘I win because I say so’.
@Mayojar77
It’s derived from the latin for “private law” or something like that, but in any case it’s not applicable. Merely being white and male doesn’t make me privileged, no matter how much they argue otherwise (I’ve lived in poverty, I’ve starved and I am thankful for every day I have with a roof over my head). They use it to shut down debate, just like accusations of racism, misogyny, homophobia and all sorts of other things are used to silence critics.
They take genuine issues and corrupt them to make them entirely about their own fanciful little world of imagined oppression.
The one that gets me is “patriarchy”. They use it to mean “men in charge”, which… it kind of isn’t. It took my wife - a latin scholar - to remind me that patriarchy is elder father-figures being in charge, which is a subtle but important difference. Young men are just as much victims of patriarchy as women.
Young men are the ones sent off to die in old mens’ wars.
But pointing that out means I’m trying ot “hijack” the issue, and that makes me a misogynist.
What I’m trying to say is: there’s no way to win the debate with people like this.
@Archonix
Thing is, mate, these whacknuts don’t even got a clue what the word even means.
A privilege is essentially a reward. Being born white, straight and comfortable in the thing(s) between your legs is not a privilege. It is simply a thing that happens.
@TexasUberAlles
Misandry /mɪˈsændri/ is the hatred or dislike of boys and/or men. Misandry can be manifested in numerous ways that have their parallel in misogyny including sexual discrimination, denigration of men, violence against men, and sexual objectification of men.
@Niggoslav_Krawczyk
Please don’t wish that on me. I’m all up for shitting on feminazis as much as the next guy, but I’m begging you, don’t ruin one of my most anticipated games for it.
I for one am eagerly awaiting the horrendous failure of mirror’s edge 2 just to watch what happens when they do try to control media. (and it’s a real kicker that it was a pretty ‘feminist friendly’ work in the first place. So what the hell is being ‘improved’ by their inclusion?)
@Niggoslav_Krawczyk
Agreed. When will these people learn? They don’t know everything. They aren’t good judges of character. They can’t control the media.
@Mayojar77 If it works on a petty threat like an invasion from hell it’ll work on feminists!
Also I’m pretty sure my idea of re-education camps would eventually end in the same thing anyway, since they’ve shown a prior history of utterly refusing to learn, ever.
