I can relate to that. Last spring my house flooded and it took five months and mucho deniro to make right. It used to be insurance companies would just write you a check to cover damages. Now the bastards make you itemize every expense and fight for the money you are due.

And on the subject of renovations, it took a month to get a house up to code for my eldest sister’s family to move into. We didn’t even have any time to put up Christmas decorations.

Oh shit. I just realized how Everfree Castle was practically designed to be a toy. It even has traps for kids to play with. INB4 Pretty Princess Purplesmart’s Palace Playset.
 
Back to canon, Twilight has shown no desire to have a castle and Everfree Castle, while apparently just an afternoon walk from Ponyville, is still putting more distance between Twilight and her friends - something she clearly showed wanting to avoid in the premiere.
 
I’d like to know how seven unskilled friends plan to renovate an entire castle if that is what they are doing. Mopping the floors and hanging pictures does not count as renovating. Renovating one room in a modern house is serious work, much more so a whole ancient ruin.

I think that Twi’s renovating the castle to use as hers, since it’s near enough to Ponyville and she is a princess now.

Renovating Everfree Castle was a very weak set up for Power Ponies. The castle is a neat set piece and I’m glad to see it get screen time but they had no reason to be there. Well, Twilight has a reason to comb through the library but she was just cleaning the structurally unsound ruin like the rest who apparently had nothing better to do. The plot hooks of the ancient library and Celestia’s diary were dropped as soon as they came up.

Did anybody else find it odd that the cast was scrubbing the floors and hanging fine art in the episode… while there were still huge piles of rubble and no ceiling on the castle?
