@Mori
Y’know, no offense, but I don’t really like how people always site “religion” as a reason for war. Even if religion didn’t exist, I’m sure there’d still be war. Any ideals, even secular ones started wars to, but even the “religious” ones were due more-so to peoples’ own ignorance, or intolerance to those different from them.
Religion can also bring some people peace, as well.
(But overall, let’s not start another debate on religion.)
@TheDog
Well, you’d be surprised at all the “dark” things some kids can handle, I rewatched some of my favorite kid movies, and such, and wondered why they didn’t scare me as a kid. Like one of my favorites being “Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland.” Some tell me that gave them nightmares as a kid, but I always loved that movie as a child. (Plus it has just as many light-hearted/cute moments as it does darker moments.)
Like I wrote in my comment at the last comic page of this one. We went extinct. And the reason is we had so much war. Because of money, land, food, power, religion. We always find a way to make war. And aslong there is at last one person in the whole world, who wants war, ther will be war.
@TheDog
Yes but take Christmas night,some cheery eggnog,some young cousins, a camcorder and that video put them together and you have one funny Christmas memory.
“Peace on Earth” is a HORRIBLE Christmas cartoon for children.
“So all the humans murdered each other, with the final two shooting one another and slowly sinking into the muck. Merry Christmas kids!… Why are you crying?”
Well a little explanation about this particular part of the story, as most people said, this point is a cliche on its own, the original intention is to pay tribute to “Peace on Earth” I saw that short as a kid and it was really interetsing, the whole idea of “the last man on Earth” was something that stick on my head for quite a long time and I really love that concept.
But as I said before, this isn’t the “moral” of the story, in fact at the end the whole point of the comic is something way different than this, so that’s it. Don’t blame Madmax if you don’t like this stuff, even I’m not a big fan of this but I see this part of the comic as a step into something else, cheers.
“Wait…so you killED THEM!”
“What?oh no they all died of heart attacks from the stress of not being happy at all.
“…r-Really?”
“No,they actually just nuked themselves”
@Background Pony #C6D5
Well, don’t blame Madmax to much, somebody else wrote the script, and commissioned this comic from her.
My only problem with stuff with this kinda “don’t be materialistic,” or “be happy” moral is… They always go overboard, and make it seem like having any personal possessions is “evil,” and such… I think this comic is getting a li’l anvil-licious to admittedly.
Also, let’s not forget ponies make/own things to.
Here’s what Alfredofroylan2 (The commissioner, & script writer) said about it.
“Again thanks to :iconcsimdmax: for the art And yes that moment. this particular strip was inspired on the short “Peace on Earth”, even if the short has a little religious undertone it’s really nice you can see it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKnkK6bLSvg
And as some people said, this’s a really old cliche and I’m sure most poeple don’t want to see this kind of stuff over and over, but that’s not the point of this comic, it’s about happiness and how everyone find it.”
I don’t know, doesn’t really seem that “Happy” to me, especially the last panel. Looks like Lyra’s getting freaked out.
