True, theft was a jackass move (then again, so did Pinkie in Green is Not Your Color, also with an apple). Lashing out at Fluttershy was a bit much. Outdated slang? “Arson, murder, and jaywalking”, much?

Well Gilda also stole, made Fluttershy cry for pretty much no reason other then to be mean, and talked in outdated slangs. That kind of what killed her for me. {I don’t really care for her, more on that she just wasn’t entertaining to watch.}

Sad, really. I hate how often the Mane 6 end up making their own enemies though lapses in judgement. Could just be the hindsight bias talking, though.
 
As for Lightning, I can get behind that sentiment. Still don’t know why anyone who gets on Rainbow’s bad side (Gilda and Lightning) gets such a hatedom that lashes out against anyone who thinks differently. And for your fic, I’ll have to keep a lookout for it. I pay attention to fics with Lighting in prominent roles, anyway.

The Apple Family could have worked it out, but only Applebloom was willing to cut a deal. {Kind of reminded me of how she was the only one to give Zecora a chance.}
 
And I loved Lightning Dust. She’s one of my fav one shot characters. It’s just that people didn’t like her for some reason, so they make her a bad guy. {Currently writing a fic with her as a main character. Hopefully, I’ll do her justice.}

I do think the whole “compete for the farm” bit was a bit of a scam, but I seem to remember watching a youtube analysis that did some math with Flim and Flam’s proposal. Apparently, one must remember how their machine makes cider three times as fast as the Apple family, without a decrease in quality if the controls are maintained (even Granny Smith liked it). Since there’s such a long line for cider made once a year (where RD hadn’t had it in years), the Apples would only have gotten 25% of sales, but three times as much money overall would have been made. If everypony had negotiated to 33% for the Apples, everyone would have walked away with money and Ponyville’s thirst would have been fully quenched.
 
Yeah, still don’t see “antagonist” in Iron Will. No idea why he was demonized so.
 
Have YOU ever tried to spend time in a room with Pinkie despite hating her and in a universe where violence is comedic relief? I do agree Gilda overreacted, but I’m not sure Pinkie would have understood a request for alone time anyway (“Buteverythingisbetterwithmoreponies,soletsallbethirdwheelsinotherpeoples’friendships!). Also, I was a bit disappointed that Rainbow’s first reaction was to immediately turn on Gilda and not even SUGGEST working everyone’s differences out. But, whatever, that situation went FUBAR no matter how you look at it.
 
Yes! Someone who realizes Lightning was a product of a faulty set of encouraged traits in trainees! Never understood how flying into what is essentially A MILITARY BASE was so ignored. Who knows? Maybe she’ll get a redemption like Trixie did.
 
As for DT and SP…meh, I guess. Never had much of an opinion on antagonists whose motivations were never explained. I’m all for supporting/condemning an antagonist when I get their motivations and perspective of things, but I gotta have something besides “stock bully” to work with!

Flim and Flam were more of con-men then salesmen. {Hence the term, Flim-Flam.} Yeah, if Applejack and the apples were actually willing to cut a deal, it could’ve worked. (That meaning they’d get a bigger cut then just 25%.)
 
Iron Will isn’t even an antagonist. I don’t get why people make him out as one, other then people defending Fluttershy…And the episode itself, since Rarity and Pinkie keep talking bad about him.
 
Gilda screwed herself over. If she just asked for alone time with Dash, there wouldn’t have been a problem. Nope. She tried to harm Pinkie instead.
 
Lightning Dust, like Iron Will, was not an antagonist. I agree with you entirely on the points you bring up.
 
And Silver Spoon has been shown to have some more depth. Like how she was the first the clap for Granny Smith. {I wish Diamond Tiara had some. It’d diminish the ammount of hate she gets…Which is pretty frightening at times.}

Also, yes, Snips/Snails were never villains. The only time they were were in EG. I don’t know why they were reduced to that. They’re really just comic relief. If you can call it that.

Looking back i the show kinda makes me realize the main six often creates their own villains.
 
Flim and Flam was just ordinary salesmen who more or less was forced into competing with Apple Jack because she refused to sell them apples, they even allowed the rules to be bent to AJ’s advantage, out of overconfidence perhaps, but still a nice gesture.
 
Iron Will wasn’t either a bad guy, he was just a selfesteeme coach who happened to arrive to a town filled with asshats. it’s ot his fault Fluttershy is a stupid cunt who doesn’t understand the concept of a middleground. You don’t have to be either a pussy walkover or a meanspirited bitch.
 
Gilda was perhaps somewhat of a grumpy sourpuss, but she wasn’t really 2vil so to say. She just wanted to hang out with her old friend for a afternoon, Pinki on the other hand convienietly forgot she had four other friends to spend time with and kept forcing herself onto Gilda who didn’t really try to hide she had no interest hanging out with Pinkie.
 
Lightning Dust also wasn’t the slightest evil, she just happened to be screwed over by four incredibly stupid ponies flying into a trainingsession in action in a fucking airballoon. Seriously, Is RD really that fucking importnt to the other five that they can’t give her space for more then 5 seconds?

Cadence being an alicorn didn’t have any real effect on the second season finale. I can’t tell what you’re try to say about Flash Sentry.
 
None of which has anything to do with the fact that characters that Faust didn’t create are right next to the Fausticorn, which is really weird.

What’s eating you? Faust has said making Cadence an alicorn wasn’t her decision and she had nothing at all to do with Flash Sentry. Putting the Fausticorn with character usually implies their creation by the actual Faust, and that’s not the case with these two characters.
