@Mentira
I love how you keep saying that Lauren Faust wouldn’t say anything bad about her former co-workers on the show, yet you never address the obvious choice which she has exercised many times when asked about what’s happened to the show after her departure: silence.
@dynamicv
I’ve read McCarthy’s press release, and I think she’s wrong on a lot of counts:
We’re building a new mythos around princesses
I’m still waiting for Cadance, Luna, and Celestia to have some quality show time.
Every little girl wants to be a princess
A broad generalization and a stereotype.
Not every girl can be a princess, but they can live up to a princess’ ideals
This is the part I don’t get. Being a princess doesn’t magically bestow virtues. It’s the other way around. And ideals like kindness, fairness, and wisdom are something to be sought in any role.
Wouldn’t it be great to have an episode where Twilight has to deal with a selfish princess? As with Trixie, this could highlight the positive traits Twilight brings to her new role.

No, she said it was unfair because the mash up was a paragraph vs 8 words from a paragraph.
That and the fact that if you took McCarthy’s ENTIRE statement and not just the cherry picked straw-man in the pic, you would see that she and Lauren are basically in agreement.
@Background Pony #C985
What I meant is that she can’t say bad things about other people work, specially the ones she worked with. She’d create the mother of all shitstorms.
Let me add this unrelated to you BP. I hope “Quoting out of context” is not being used as “I can’t deny what they said, so I called missing context!”
@Background Pony #622F
I feel like the fact she even responded at all with “that’s unfair” shows more that she wants the more rabid “fan dumb” to calm down and stop attacking the show’s current production team, and stop using old quotes of her’s as ammunition.
@Mentira
Still waiting on SPECULATION as to why Faust didn’t just remain silent when asked about that quote “mash-up”. After all, she’s remained silent before when asked about various changes to the show, and has even clarified she never said “alicorn” or “princess” when talking about Twilight’s future, which could be taken as disagreeing with Princess Twilicorn.
@Mentira
But she has said bad things about it. She isn’t afraid to look back on her work and find faults. Anyone remember Feeling Pinkie Keen? She admitted that there was something wrong about the phrasing of the moral that even she missed.
There is no rule that says she can only say good things about her work. That would just be silly. No artist can improve if they can’t discuss mistakes.
@Background Pony #622F
Ah! Here you are. I’m not good with remembering numbers and digits…
The way I see it, Lauren could never say anything bad of the show, no matter how she feels, so it’s all SPECULATION!
She only spoke out against the dolls, which even surprised me.
If you accept this is speculating, then all this is pointless. I would say that she doesn’t like all this, and you can say she does like it, and so on.
@Mentira Yep, I’m here. And as I’ve said I don’t know how many times, Lauren Faust could have chosen to remain silent, if she really felt that Meghan McCarthy was damaging the show she developed and obviously still cares for.
That McCarthy quote is such bullshit. It means the complete opposite when you add the context and the part after the quote cuts off:
“They shouldn’t have to succumb to pressure to be perfect.” - Laurent Faust
“Every little girl wants to be a princess**, but not everybody can get to be a princess*”
NOTE: replace the word “princess” with “a good pony who shares the gifts that they have been given with others”, as McCarthy explained before that quote.
And now you know why Lauren thought that mash up was bullshit.
“I have no doubts that Meghan is doing her best to uphold the ideals brought to MLP. This quote mash up is unfair.” – Lauren Faust
If you want to criticize the quote or the window, fine. But be honest enough to do so honestly, rather than disrespecting Faust’s wishes and trying to drag her into it.
