The sprites are what I would use for a top down shooting game if I had the ability to make it. Since it’s NLR vs. SE and Discord, you would only control fighters, with bombers as targets. The description on the original has more info.

Indeed - it seems to me that it would be more thematically appropriate if the Solar Empire didn’t use Russian planes but rather relied on European designs (Eurofighter, Tornado, Mirage variations, etc.).
 
And speaking of being thematically appropriate, shouldn’t the legion of discord have a larger array of aircraft of both Eastern and Western design?

I would image that the NLR would rely heavily on mercenary to fly for their air power. Having their loyal officers leading them to battles.
 
not to mentoned that the Solar Empire has a limited amount of fighters. (they rely on a MIG 21, really?)

why no long range bombers for NLR? unless I’m reading the chart wrong,is the Tu-95 NLR? Supplying all those type of planes has to be a drain on resources.
