Wait, turn them into them? Where did you read that? I have heard legends of them being eaten, of them being used a breeding stock, or simply taken away for shits and giggles, but never transformed into them.

I thought they just kidnapped children and turned them into them. Still though, I’m not sure that applies to MLP changelings.

Well, real-life canon changelings can feed on any emotion, and actually relish in the ‘red’ emotions. Love is red, but so are hate, fear, and longing.

I was wondering that too. Though I swear I remember them only mentioning they feed off love, unless the comic mentioned something else.
