It could have been bud-nipped easily enough if they had phrased it as “We’re waiting to see how she’s going to be handled in S4 before making a decision”; that way Curnow could have explicitly said something like, “We’ve read the scripts, we’ve seen how she’s going to be handled and it’s great, she’s in the comic starting with Issue 13.”
Some fanboys are like bad search engines; unless you give them the exact right phrasing, they’ll freak out and start talking about pants or something instead.
Yes, I know, which is why I replied with an image macro, instead of a smarmy retort.
Ha haaah, bronies.
I wasn’t sure whether Andy Price had himself said anything about it; I need to try to track that down and see what he said exactly, but I’m pretty sure it was along the same lines as the SDCC announcement.
At the San Diego Comicon this past July, IDW mentioned that Twilicorn wasn’t going to be in the comics until the comic’s staff had a chance to see how she was handled in season 4. (I haven’t found a transcript, so I don’t know what the exact wording was, but that’s how it was reported.) About a week ago, Bobby Curnow of IDW announced that Twilicorn would start appearing in the comic as of issue #13, as the staff had read the scripts to season 4 and were happy with how she was portrayed. Many bronies, as expected, went ballistic, saying they were going to stop getting the comics or (more amusingly) weren’t going to start getting them like they were considering doing. I’ve seen one brony accuse IDW of lying about the issue, under the assumption that “see how she’s handled in season 4” meant that the earliest she’d appear in the comics would be after season 4 was over; I don’t know how widespread that belief is, but it seems rather rare.
Price said they were waiting for S4 to introduce alicorn Twilight. Editor of the comic announced that issue 13 (which comes in late November IIRC) would have it.
Curnow didn’t lie, Price just spoke for something he had no control over.
@Ebalosus
For the record, yes, I agree with you that it’s silly for people to keep saying Meghan McCarthy is a lying liar who tells lies (something which seems less common nowadays, thankfully); that’s why I’m comparing it to IDW, which is very similar to what happened with Meghan but which is generally recognized as, at most, a misunderstanding on the part of some bronies (though I have seen at least one accuse Bobby Curnow of lying).
Uh, i was just…joking with you,you know…..
Psst,Ebalosus,i like you but can you come here just a second….closer….closer (shout with a megaphone in your ear)
STOP BRINGING MASS EFFECT 3 IN EVERY FREAKING CONVERSATION FOR CHRIST SAKE (larsen sound fadding)
Fair enough, I mean that sincerely. But to me, ME3 and all it’s accompanying problems are a tumour that just-wont-go-away, ergo I see it as a bigger problem than some showrunner bending the true.
Also, I’ve been arguing alot on the Bioware forums as of late, thus my brusque attitude towards McCarthy critics
Considering I didn’t even care for the series before that, this is far more important.
Even if she did lies, her lies are small potatos compared to the BARE-FACED LIES that the Mass Effect 3 developers, not marketers, developers told everyone before the game was released.
Good to know where your priorities lie…
The editors said they were going to wait and see how S4 handled Princess Twilight before they decided whether or not to level her up in the comics’ continuity. They got the scripts for all of Season 4, read them over, and promptly announced that Princess Twilight would be coming to the comics as soon as the next arc finished.
This is a good thing. It means that a group of people who were fans of the show long before they started working on the comics think S4 is going to be good for Sparklehorse. Haters still gonna hate, but I ain’t cancelin’ my subscription or takin’ it off Autotune.

FACT.
Purple grapes are better for eating, but green grapes make better wine.
/FACT.
It was a cute and silly tweet!
Also, some of you need to learn to relax and laugh a little. :)
Interpretation of vague wording is a funny thing, isn’t it? I’m guessing the editors got the script between that statement and the announcement.
@professor_of_hoers
But I don’t want to be tied to the radiator and graped…
@Background Pony
sigh OK, I’m this BP, and it seems my point has been completely lost. I’m saying that what happened with IDW, with people assuming that “We’re waiting to see how Twilicorn is handled in season 4” meant that she wouldn’t be in the comics until after the season, is the same kind of thing that led to people bringing up “Don’t believe her lies” in relation to Meghan McCarthy.
Not only are red, or purple, grapes packed with antioxidants but they are also far more delicious than their green brothers and sisters. If you are not eating purple grapes then you don’t know the true joy of being graped hard, right in the mouth.
What?
@professor_of_hoers
Ew, purple grapes.
@Background Pony
I’m enjoying people acting predictably.
What’s that supposed to mean?
Or, stay in the fandom and never leave. Whichever you prefer.
Personally, I prefer purple grapes to green ones.
