@Jack Kellar
What’s wrong with hooking up a controller to a PC? I hook up my PS3 controller to play Dark Souls/platformers/ARPGs and whatnot. My friends all hook up arcade sticks to play KoF/SF.
I’m PC AND console. My PC has some fairly decent specs with a GTX 660 (non-Ti, had to go for the “cheaper but still good” option since I was buying it with birthday money), a six core FX-6120, and 10 GB of RAM on my computer with a 600 watt PSU. I think it’s pretty decent for a newbie set up, didn’t have to break the bank on it either, but I do plan on going for something better in the future (right now I still get decent framerates with high settings, but yeah I can’t max out Crysis 2 and expect a smooth framerate the whole time).
As for consoles, I have a lot of older gen systems of course with the most recent past gen systems being Xbox 360 and Wii. The only new generation system I own is the Wii U since it’s the only one out now (got it at launch, didn’t know at the time that the games I wanted most would get delayed this far into this year, but at least the stream has started thanks to the releases of games like Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101), and I plan on getting a PlayStation 4 when games like Metal Gear Solid V and Kingdom Hearts III come out.
I also have a 3DS XL, since I do prefer my on-the-go gaming to be on an actual gaming device rather than a smartphone that has no physical buttons.
PC vs. Console=Assholes who think that whatever they prefer/can afford is somehow objectively superior to whatever others prefer/can afford.
Yes there are a lot of PC gamers who think that they are somehow a better class of gamer just ‘cause they own a PC but there are also a lot of console gamers who group all PC gamers together as elitist snobs and use that as a justification for declaring console better.
It’s just people seeking comfort in groupishness by adopting an us vs. them mentality.
TBH, FPS, MMOs and single player games are best for PC, but platformer (2D and 3D), action and multiplayer (With no internet connection) games are better with a gamepad and a PC doesn’t come with a gamepad and a console always come with a gamepad.
Aha! The Great And Powerful Trixie is about to show you peasants a whole WORLD of kno-
What?
We’re already done with this argument?
@zee66
And THIS is the best the PC side could come up with?
Nope, no, Trixie knows ALL about how to be superior, and this isn’t it! Sit your plot down, because Trixie is about to show you peasants a whole WORLD of knowledge! Not just stuff to show that PC gaming is better, but stuff you should know about PC to begin with because you probably don’t:
First, A cheap but capable PC costs $300, not $500. I’d say “This runs a lot better than a 360 and a PS3”, but really… they’re 8 years old. Modern computers don’t even need a graphics card to run better than them. No exaggeration.
Second, the overall myth of PCs being more expensive is pretty much a myth. You can realistically get a Xbone/PS4 equivalent PC for the same price. And the best graphics card in existence is set to be $600 when it comes out very soon. Couple that with charity bundles getting you games for nearly free, Steam sales where everything goes for like an average of 75% off, and no monthly fees, and it just works out cheaper.
The exception is companies that try to rip you off. Which is a lot, actually, but particularly Apple.
Third, assemble it yourself. Unless it’s a laptop, then you should probably go for a build-to-order. It’s just always cheaper. If you want help, ask on Reddit. Assembling it is not hard, it’s basically an Ikea computer. You’re not going to screw up unless you live in a comedy cartoon.
Fourth, the benefits to graphics and mods are hard to convey, so instead here’s some screenshots of GTA4 with mods. That’s a game that you can get for $5. You can see why PC gamers do say graphics matter.
…which is also what PS3 gamers said back in the day too. Funny, that.
Fifth, your games will pretty much run on all future PCs, and you can’t destroy the disks if you’re using Steam (which you should). But you probably already knew that.
Sixth, emulation includes PS2 and Wii games now. You’ll need loose morals, and a sensor bar adapter for the latter, mind. Also, Nintendo consoles are pretty cool anyway, there’s no shame in getting them.
Seventh, since GTA5 has come up a lot, Rockstar has actually said the PC version is the base game and the console ones are ports. Suck it!
And finally, if you’re saying “Oh I have a console AND a PC”, you’re basically saying “Oh I spent hundreds of dollars on a handful of exclusives”. People will not respect you for it. And don’t say you have a 360 and a PS3, that just makes it worse.
Now if you’ll excuse me, there’s a bright pink peasant here who’s very angry that Trixie hasn’t stopped talking yet.
@Rainbow Serpent
No we are to busy playing Starcraft, APB, Civ 5, Arma, Metro last light, Crysis, CS, Ect…
And i honestly don’t mind waiting for it on PC
What I’m not getting is how exactly this argument is to be called an argument. I love consoles, I use them more than my PCs, but if the counterargument is just “you are an asshole for making me look like an idiot”, I can’t help but think that side isn’t putting the effort to discuss and just wants to win because… they feel they are right, I suppose. Zee keeps being right about the benefits of PC gaming, but you fellows don’t actually talk the advantages of consoles. You can’t even agree to disagree if you don’t give a point which is: a) factual, b) relevant, c) convincing.
