I think what that guy meant was that they were awesome.  
“THE Shit” = The thing/Cool/Awesome/etc.  
vs.  
“Shit” = Bad/Gross/Terrible/etc.

I remember this one. it was my first and favorite bionicle character. at first I thought it was a dude then I saw the movie and found out that she was a chick. man was I pissed lol

Ah yeah, the original Bionicles were the SHIT.  
Though the new “Hero Factory” ones are kinda cool too, and actually have an interesting concept behind them now instead of the generic Light vs Darkness crap
