I played with Rescue Heroes. They had like firefighters and policemen and stuff. But then again, I suppose you’re right about how it doesn’t really matter what they play with. Really, I just find the concept in general hilarious and the designs unappealing on a base level.

But how are dolls making them feel anything? They’re fucking dolls dressed in fishnet stockings. Sixth graders are the ones saying “geez, I’m too old for dolls”, not the brand. It’s all in their heads.
 
I don’t know why people think dolls have this much influence on kids. I had friends who played with Bratz; I wasn’t allowed to because they were, well, endorsing brats. Last time I checked, my friends aren’t sluts. Skinny dolls = less plastic, playing with Barbies didn’t make me feel worthless as a kid, even though I was chubby. I remember the fuss about pregnant barbie, how it encouraged teen pregnancy or some shit. I played with that fucking thing all the time, and here I am, fetus free. Dolls aren’t the root of all insecurity. It’s a rich combination of friends, family, and yourself that makes you feel like shit at a certain age, or at least that’s how I see it.

They realized they can milk money from the “I’m too old for X now that I’m in middle school, can’t like what I used to any more or I’ll be called a kid” phase that almost everyone goes through. Most people are done with it by high school. They’re selling “realistic” stories set in “realistic” settings. Basically, a romanticized version of a small portion of your life that almost never happens.
