Down in the catacombs we see the fearsome dragon Spike, the guardian of Equestria’s strategic gem reserve and Princess Celestia’s secret weapon to be deployed against any invader or insurgent foolish enough to threaten her kingdom.

I’d like to think these are the crystal caverns beneath Canterlot (the same the Cadance and Twilight were imprisoned in durind season 2), and the arches are the foundation of of the city. :3

They haven’t seen each other in centuries…

Although one wonders why the arches in the back left are showing sunlight if this is a cave. Unless it’s right where Canterlot hooks into the mountain.
