Ironically some of that I already knew, such as how satan is mainly used by satanists as an antireligous symbol that represents “freedom” from religon due to Satan’s rebellion against god, and how “satanism” is really just antitheism with a symbol. Although I didn’t know the part about “true” satanism being virtually nonexistent.
 
My whole point with the other posts was mainly to point out that they could’ve chosen their symbol a little more wisely, since the very concept of Satan is more or less associated with evil in many cultures, so naming your “religon” after him is like planting a bullseye on your head

Your idea of satanism probably comes from your upbringing, if you’d allow me the assumption. Sounds like you are a christian, who has heard a lot of bs in your childhood, probably remnants of the “Satanic Panic”.
 
Satanism was always a counter-culture, of people who didn’t like christianity and designed their own “bible” and their own core tenants to follow. They called it satanism as a spit in the face of christianity.
 
Saying that Pseudo-satanists are the only people who don’t actively worship satan is like saying Pseudo-Muslims are the only ones not going on a jihad. I am not a religious person by any means, but I know that if there is one thing all religions have in common, it is how easily (mis)interpreted they are. If ambiguousness was a deciding factor, all religions would have to be outlawed.
 
Nobody actually worships satan. The only people who do are either christian nutjobs or Satanists who didn’t get the memo that they dont actually worship Satan as an entity.
 
Satanism exists because there is a philosophical difference between what Christians believe is good behaviour, and what other people (who are now Satanists) believe is good behaviour. If you’d permit a metaphor, Christians want to be the sheep, Satanists want to be the wolf. Christians believe aggressive and dominating behaviour is harmful, Satanists believe if you don’t show your strength that means you are weak.
 
But you can bet your ass that nobody is, for example, sacrificing anyone for Satan. I’d go so far as to claim that more people have been sacrificed for the glory of God last year than all the sacrifices to Satan ever committed by Satanists combined. Satanism is inherintly an “atheistic religion” - which basically means it is a philosophy, but afaik it is counted as a religion.
 
TL;DR Understand that you know nothing, because only then will you be able to learn something.

Well they did leave it ambiguous as to what exactly they meant since “treat them cruelly and without mercy” and “destroy them” can be interpreted in many different ways. And when something calls itself “satanism” you’re kind of led to expect something brutal and unnerving. I guess that’s the difference between pseudo -satanism and true satanism, one is just antitheism using Satan as a symbol, and the other actually worships Satan. But unfortunately for pseudo-satanists, the concept “satanism” is often associated with some…unnerving stuff.

Just because you interpret “treating someone cruelly” to mean “to torture” and “destroying someone” to mean “to kill” doesn’t mean that this was what was intended.
 
Treating someone cruelly and without mercy means, for example, to shittalk them. Tell them what kind of a blathering idiot they are, and how they waste everyone’s time. Do this until the person leaves, because they will.  
Destroying someone is only permitted after they have not responded to your request to leave you alone. If they don’t want to stop bothering you, after you have clearly said you don’t wish to be bothered, they are clearly looking for a fight, and that shall be delivered to them swiftly.
 
The term “Bothering” is also important. Someone asking you for the time is hardly something one can interpret as “bothering someone”. But there are a lot of rude things a person can do to bother another person, sometimes just out of sheer malice. The Satanic Rules do not advocate for punching someone because they were asking you for directions, but to punch someone who, for example, shouts racial epithets at you and does not respond to a courteous request to stop. It also doesn’t advocate for violence, because similar as to the above rule, destroying can also be done verbally.
 
Also notice that it refers to “walking in open territory”. Your lair is not “open territory”, it is your lair, a private domicile. This rule doesn’t apply in a private domicile.
 
And yes, Satanists are allowed to promote their religion, because of religious freedom, whether you like it or not.
 
I don’t even follow the religious tenants of Satanism, but Satanism is not as bad as you are lead to believe by your lack of reading comprehension.
