I’d have to dust off my old computer to check it, but you’re probably right.
It doesn’t affect the boot screen though. However, the boot screen only looked like this (no edition text or copyright date) from Service Pack 2 onwards, and Service Pack 2 had a load of widely-used pirated license keys blacklisted and refused to install. The text you’ve got is part of the Genuine Advantage programme, another (futile) effort by Microsoft to curb piracy.
I remember mine having a couple of lines saying “This is not an original WiXP copy” and a bunch of numbers instead of the Microsoft logo on the lower right side corner. It also didn’t allow me to customize the desktop.
There’s a difference? My pirated one on an old laptop looks exactly the same.
I’m talking about a legit (unpirated) version.
eeh I see it all the time. my parents have xp on their computer. I only use it when my pc is turned off (turning my computer on takes a fuck load-a time cuz it’s a piece of shit and my parents computer is faster) and only to google something or look something up I can’t remember the name of.
Boy, haven’t seen one of those in a while.
My school had Windows comps too.
