Is that not a valid strategy? I mean, I always figured that if I read enough books on psychology, I could figure out what the experts consider to be in the normal range of human responses sufficiently to emulate it if needed.

Plot Twist: Twilight Sparkle is, in fact, not the best at being normal.

Also these twitter comments are, personally to me, hilarious since it spells out what exactly happens after Twi takes Starlight as a student.

I greatly enjoy that one of the first things she does in her quest to horse normally, is make friends with Trixie, quite possibly the only less functional magic horse to ever live.

Twilight’s first directive in Starlight’s normal lessons, is to make a friend, and Starlight hones in on literally the only pony Twilight has a true deep and abiding dislike for.
