Here is one of my captioned images of the screencaps for both Queen Opaline and Emperor Grogar (yes, I call him Emperor Grogar because he was mentioned in Season 9 to be “Emperor of All He Saw!”). Who do you all think would be a great final baddie for Sunny and her friends to face down in G5? Would it be the new villain Queen Opaline, who is responsible for the events that lead up to G5? Or would it be a bigger bad Grogar, who is responsible for the events that lead up to G4!? LOL! Both are promising! But I think they should bring back the real Grogar (and not a fake one this time)! That would’ve been cool! :) I love the character of Grogar, but I really hate how he was utilized in G4. I just hope the real deal will reappear in G5. Maybe Opaline summons him and they temporarily team up!? Who knows! LOL! Maybe both of them should be final endgame villains, like Azula and Ozai were in Avatar: The Last Airbender! But what do you all think!? Leave your comments down below!
Characters and Screencaps belong to Hasbro. I do not own them! LOL!
Except there is no evidence to suggest any of that. And if that was the case then Luna would’ve instead said instead of it being beyond her understanding she would’ve said “where she and Celestia come from was only where such a thing was possible” or something to that effect.
And also if there was an ancient Alicorn race that ponies would be born as, that doesn’t make sense considering before Celestia and Luna unicorns raised the sun & moon, why weren’t natural born Alicorns there?
Also do keep in mind that using Equestria as a specific region has never been consistent. Originally it was used to refer to the whole world but also as the name of Celestia’s kingdom, so when someone says “this has never been seen before in Equestria before”, that can either mean the whole world or just her kingdom. But it likely was intended to mean the former for dramatic effect.
Edited
It’s beyond their understanding that an Equestrian pony would be born an Alicorn, but Celestia and Luna likely weren’t from Equestria and could possibly be from a different race entirely. There could have been another alicorn race which Celestia and Luna came from (a race that likely disappeared long before FiM) and didn’t expect that two ponies not from the ancient alicorn race could have given birth to a natural born alicorn. Regardless, it was never confirmed that Celestia and Luna weren’t born alicorns.
Rewatch The Crystalling. Celestia and Luna themselves say that not just that the birth of an Alicorn is something Equestria has never seen, but Luna states, and I quote “It is beyond even our understanding.” How would it be beyond their understanding if they were born Alicorns. That makes no sense. If they were born Alicorns, Luna would never have said an Alicorn birth is beyond her understanding. The only hint they would have been born outside of Equestria is G5’s mention of Skyros, which doesn’t have any basis from G4 whatsoever and is canonically dubious.
Probably because so many people don’t pay attention in the episodes. People to this day still forget that unicorns raised the sun & moon before C&L and the C&L were not born as Alicorns.
Yeah I don’t remember anyone suspecting that Grogar and Discord were the same, just that he wasn’t going to be the final villain. Season 9 would have been better if either the real Grogar was the final villain or if Grogar didn’t appear at all.
Really? Only in retrospect? The first 2 episodes of Season 9 literally have Discord literally fake an injury and friendship speech to boost Twilight’s confidence and gets offended when it didn’t work (Also Grogar states his goal is to get rid of Twilight Sparkle. Twilight never met Grogar, let alone seen him, so that’s already suspicious). That’s already more than enough reason to be suspicious of discord. We knew Discord isn’t the type of person to move on from it (Even if he acts like it). The previous season literally had Discord hold a grudge because he wasn’t invited to the school and terrorized it, even when his body was banished by Starlight. The S9E17 has Discord clearly acting stranger than usual.
There was enough of hinting that Discord was behind it considering the first 2 episodes literally point to Discord wanting Twilight to be more confident in herself. But I’ve also noticed that a lot of viewers of the show tend to not pay attention (such as theorizing how the sun & moon were raised before C&L despite that being answered in the beginning of the play in the first Hearth’s Warming episode) and give the impression that information need to be outright stated to them in the show instead of something more subtle or context clues.
Maybe him being Discord wasn’t obvious But it was that He was not going to be the final villain. Especially when we got to frenemies.
I’ll never understand why people defend Cozy Glow and use “sHe’S jUsT a ChIlD” when actual child murdered exist.
Worst plot twist in history? It was so obvious since S8 if anyone bothered paying attention to discord, it was quite clear he was up to something. That plot twist didn’t ruin anything and season 9 was fine except for the final episode which was clearly rushed. Season 9 still gave us Sparkle’s Seven, Between Dark and Dawn, and The Last Laugh. People overexaggerate how bad Season 9 is. While it was not the strongest season, I’d argue Season 1 was just as weak (looking at you Ticket Master)
Honestly if Grogar does return as the final boss of G5 then I’ll forgive Hasbro for ruining season 9 and G4 as a whole with the worst plot twist in history. I don’t care anymore but it would be nice to see an awful company redeem themselves (well, sort of).
That’s true.
Yeah I don’t like how so many villains are just easily forgiven after everything they’ve done. They should tell kids that some villains are so evil and have committed crimes so horrible that they don’t deserve a chance at redemption (including Cozy Glow), or at least say that some villains are beyond redemption and will never accept friendship no matter what (also Cozy Glow).
Of course not. She would still be the villain and could never accept redemption after all the things she’s done.
Not every villain needs a redemption arc.
And give her a redemption arc.
Somewhat.
I just noticed that the newly rebuilt Lighthouse has a basement full of moving boxes. Maybe Sunny just moved Grogar’s bell into one of those boxes? It’s possible that may be where the bell went after the G5 movie ended.
I don’t think Grogar’s bell fell into the ocean. Sunny’s lighthouse fell away from the ocean and landed on the ground, so Grogar’s Bell is clearly still there and not in the ocean. Maybe Sunny put it away again somewhere after the lighthouse got rebuilt?
