I wonder if I’m the only one genetically immune to Christmas music. I love it. I could bathe in it all year round. Now, everything ELSE about retail is a nightmare, and I have even less tolerance for the rest of the job than most people. Knowing you’re going nowhere, that everyone around you hates you, that capitalism and society in general are crumbling right in front of you as you watch. That’s all pretty bad. Music’s fine though.

I know its a niche example but, just last week I was in a Michaels (a big box arts and crafts store) and they had Christmas plastic trees, lights and ornaments up for sale right next to the barely-discounted-cause-there-was-one-more-week Halloween stuff.

I… I literaly live in Taiwan… I’m a native Taiwanese… I don’t think it would be possible for me to not know the very country I live in…
Anyway, sugarcane juice actually fell into obscurity nowadays. I don’t see any sugarcane juice being sold in beverage shops anyway. It’s actually more commonly sold in old stores and around old streets. Pearl milk tea is boba tea, and Mr. Brown Coffee also fell into obsurity with many other coffee brands in convenience stores and even coffee that is instantly brewed right in the stores. I’m sure it’s still being sold but people would just buy it for convenience or as their selected canned coffee brand.
But who knows? Maybe those are still popular now and I’ve just not paid enough attention to the news. I did say boba tea is one of the most popular beverages after all, and pearl milk tea is boba tea.

Yeah, that’s why thousands of beverage shops sell it. It’s one of the most popular beverages in Taiwan.
Apparently Wayne, according to this article the most popular beverage in Taiwan (a country you likely never heard of) is Sugarcane Mama, followed by Pearl Milk Tea, and Mr. Brown Coffee.
I wonder if you have heard of any of these beverages.

God, I work retail and would rather have dead silence than Christmas music. What I really hate about it is that there was a point in time when I could still enjoy it, and the radio stations took that away from me. Fuck you radio stations.

(Also if I’m being honest it feels like Christmas slop is legit present as early as the start of October until the end of January. That’s four months of the year, every single year. Literally a third of our waking lives!)

That aint the song they play the grocery stores tho. Rockin’ around the christmas tree, with 3+ different covers is the song you will despise if you ever get to work retail during december. I didn’t hear MC a single time last year, that’s all on local radio stations.

I highly doubt that retailers like Walmart or Target have such slim margins. The only store chains I can think of that might have that slim of margins would be department stores like Macy’s and Dillards, but then again they have been struggling with sales in general for years.
