Description
Got me a 3D printer. It had to be done :P
Click here for the svg, obj, and gcode files, if you would like your very own inconvenient print. You should be able to just send the gcode file right to your printer, though I’m using a pause code to change filaments to do the color change: it’ll definitely work with a Anycubic printer (it’ll pause for about 12 seconds), and it’ll probably work with others :P

I honestly like the lines though. To me, it’s part of the medium the way brush strokes are on a painting or rough lines are on a pencil sketch XD
Awesome! I mostly use overture brand mainly because of the price point. And if you haven’t tried matte finish filament I’d recommend it, hides layer lines and looks so good!

I really do need to try PETG. I know with PLA I get some slight stringing sometimes, but it’s pretty good. So far, the best-ever PLA I ever used is the transparent colorless stuff: I’m assuming it’s because it’s just way more pure without anything added to color it or make it more shiny :D
Same with PETG! No hood, The main downsides are the stringing and it’s slightly slower to print. I really wanna get into resin printing for high detail parts, I make a lot of small mechanisms and that would be very helpful. Resin is a whole different beast though
Yeah. Overall, PLA seems to be the best one to work with. The big thing I like about it is how there are no fumes. I can’t smell it at all when it’s running. You don’t need to work with a fume hood or anything like that :D
I like the strength and flexibility of PETG, strings pretty badly though. I can only tune my machine so much. They all have their pros and cons I suppose
I only use PLA, and what I’ve noticed is it’s definitely the type of filament with that kind of plastic. That silver plastic I used as the base is brittle and delicate, and not good for anything other than a joke like this, while the black stuff is pretty durable. I’ve found as long as you use the same brand of plastic they’ll adhere pretty well, but I mostly make practical stuff so I don’t often change colors anyways :D
I’ve always had adhesion issues on the initial layer after changing filament, I mainly use PETG though so that might be it
It’s honestly not difficult to do a filament change, so if it’s something as simple as a raised layer being a different color I’ll just do that. Painting is messier and takes more time, and Cura has a built-in option to pause at a specific height for a layer change that’s pretty easy to do :D

I don’t use any software, as I don’t have a 3d printer. That’s just a screenshot I took on Hero Forge, which is a site that makes custom minis via 3d modeling. I typically use it to make screenshots to represent characters I have in mind or just for creative fun.
Trixie is going to figure out how to hack into that thing and make it print all sorts of shenanigans :P

I’m really happy with the thing so far. They’re actually super affordable, all things considered. Here is the specific one I bought, which cost me only $380 since it was on sale at the time. It costs about 6 cents per meter to print things, so this Trixie emblem literally cost me 30 cents to make :D
Neat! I’m still learning the software, so I’m doing things like wall mounts for my external hard drives, and things like that. I’ve not figured out the software you use to make figurines XD
