@Seiken
Not really, considering the definitions of the word, but if you want to argue with established English vocabulary I ain’t gonna stop you or waste time trying. Good day.
@MagicalMysticVA
Certainly wouldn’t surprise me, you were voicing the one of the wackiest characters I’ve seen outside of Looney Tunes after all. Planning goes into Pinkie’s parties, and planning would sensibly go into voicing her.
I always wonder about how I can/could have done better when I write, so I get the internal considerations well. Creating and doing things requires using your brain, and often those who are creative think of more than one way to alter or improve what they do, it’s just how these things go more often than not.
I wouldn’t know about the riding, personally. Good on you for your knowledge ;)
@MagicalMysticVA
I may understand what Seiken is talking about…admittedly I’m kind of doubting I really did at this point, but maybe I did. If I did, I certainly don’t agree with it, like I said. I think you did well, and the strained/whinny tone could easily imply pleasure, I’ve certainly heard that before in lewd video voice-acting, so perhaps this is a total impassable difference here. You put in the work for this, and it shows, and what you did works for what it’s needed for, and that deserves all the respect in the world. You did a good job, and that’s a fact.
I’ve never even heard of the “Rainbow Dash presents” thing, but if it is like you say, then I really think they just have a massively off-the-wall angle on their standards for this that doesn’t really apply like they think it does, at least it makes me suspect as such.
tbh, I think when I was making this, I was thinking the opposite. That I wasn’t sounding whinny enough. Realistically speaking, It’s very hard to talk normally while riding, lol, (As someone who knows from experience…XD), but it’s also Pinkie Pie, who is known to go against logics, and be calm in situations where she shouldn’t be, and she doesn’t look that fazed by it in the animation XD So, I was thinking about that and made her sound a bit pleasured but not way over the top. I put more thought into this than they probably realize, lol.
@MagicalMysticVA
I had no clue, but it doesn’t change my take on this. It’s good, plain and simple. Thinking about in comparison to your later work, I can see you’ve gotten even better of course, which isn’t shocking. Those who are good continue to progress and evolve after all.
@Aknes
Watever, if that’s what they personally think, then that’s their opinion. I can’t say I agree. I personally think it’s better this way, than what they suggested.
I have seen “Rainbow Dash Presents” and it’s a very bad example. It’s a YouTube parody series where the main cast are voiced by males and the voices are very silly sounding with very little emotion. It was fun to watch, but terrible comparison, lol. I wouldn’t call it good voice acting. I’m pretty sure it was intentionally bad voice acting for comedy sake.

Sounds okay. I know that the actual dialogue speed it tough to match, but I think it might be worth compromising between what you have and what the actual dialogue speed is.
@Aknes
yeah, I just realized while thinking about it. Obviously I want to sound whinny in this scene….XD That’s the emotion that the scene is supposed to be, lol.
I don’t know why they compared Rainbow Dash presents. Those voices had very little emotion. The point of those parodies was that the voice acting was very unfitting, lol. Yes, it was funny, but that’s not really what I’m going for with this type of voiceover…XD Ironic that they talk about “realistic” then use the most unrealistic example.
@Aknes
Yeah, no impressionist can match a voice exactly, lol. Pinkie does have a pretty squeaky voice. I listened to a lot of voice clips to match it when I first did her voice; Also, in a context where she’s literally riding a cock, lol. I recorded this 2 years ago at this point, so I don’t even remember, but I think the whininess was supposed to be pleasure sounding, lol. Yeah, pretty sure it was intentional. Voices get “whinny” if you are trying to talk while doing lewd acts. (I would know XD) I get into the emotion of the scene. Also, the talking was super fast, which made this scene alot harder to record. Trying to not mess up the lines while also staying in character.
@MagicalMysticVA
I enjoy them like that too, it makes the dialogue more…“punchey” to me, if that makes sense. Like, when a character feels something, I can better get the impression of it when they speak.
I can’t imagine trying to put my voice even close to Pinkie’s range, and my voice isn’t very deep for a guy’s anyway. I applaud your work here personally. It isn’t perfect, but nothing really is if you ask me, and I don’t ever expect that from anything. It leaves me more pleasantly surprised honestly, as everything good is impressive on some level.
I hope everything I said in this reply didn’t sound like disorganized babbling…
@Seiken
Thank you, I see what you’re driving at, but I don’t see as much of a problem with it as you do. I’d say it isn’t terrible voice acting, just that MagicalMystic has limits, just like, ironically, the two examples you list here. Personally, I find the “too sweetness” in the first one a bit more irritating then anything Magical does, so to me their’s is fine, not perfect, but more than good enough.
You might be coming off as a bit…perfectionist here honestly, if there is so little apparent difference in quality between your examples and this video’s voice actors to other people.
@Seiken
Well, maybe that’s your opinion, but I do not agree with you. The point was to mimic her voice, lol. I wasn’t gonna do this in an original voice. That wouldn’t sound right, unless I was intentionally trying to parody it.
@Aknes
In general just look at most western cartoons, these have convincing voices that fit within the english language. More specific example i would point to Rainbow Dash presents videos that didn’t immitate the voices but were good as original voices. Quality that is nice to listen to.
@Seiken
I’m a huge fan of English anime dub voices, so I don’t see an issue, lol. Maybe it’s a perference thing, cause I love anime dub voices and think they sound good like that. Some anime dubs are meh, but some are really good. I went to a professional anime dub class as well and it takes alot of talent. You have to match lip flaps and stuff like that. I’m doing a Pinkie Pie voice impression and I have to go pretty high, so yeah, it might sound like that, but I don’t think many can do it better. You try it, if you think you know so much about voice acting, lol. It took years of practice to be this good.

I mean, I also recorded this like 2 years ago, lol. Someone just decided to upload my old work now.

I think it’s good, so I personally don’t see how changing it is even necessary or worth thinking about…

This one that sounds a bit too sweet, but still good
This one that has a slighty wrong tone, but the inflections while speaking are correct

Care to give an example of good voice acting? Just curious.
