If I recall the owner of the house Andy was trying to buy also didn’t tell them the issues. Like basement flooding and a crack in the furnace.
I like almonds. One of my favorite nuts to munch.
Believe me I understand that if something looks like junk, that doesn’t mean it is. I like to fix bicycles, and I’ve brought a few back from the dead.

And just if it might look like junk, it might not be.
I’m picky enough to mostly go Organic, but not always. Things like Almonds make sense in the realm of Organics, they just taste better. They don’t normally have awful oils added.
Ah yes, Don Knotts was wonderful in the whole of The Andy Griffith Show. I recall that episode you’re referencing, too.
The Motorcycle episode was “Barney’s Sidecar.” I think that was a WWI Bike, though. It was still around 45 - 50 years after WWI, mind.
That one with Opie trying to sell a bike was probably “Barney the Realtor.” Andy told Opie to tell about the issues the bike had, then Andy didn’t tell all the issues that the house had when Barney tried to go into Realty, then Opie told the issues.

No, I was thinking about that one kid getting his bike taken away. It’s been a while, and I remember Don Knotts just riding it, only for his partner to hold the back end up so he ended up peddling in place.

I’ve seen a few episodes growing up, but not that one. I’d sooner remember that one bike episode. Don Knotts was hilarious.

Agreed. Cheap doesn’t always mean low quality. But when buying anything used, you really need to inspect it thoroughly. That’s something Aunt Bee didn’t do. She bought the low quality beef from a new butcher in town, and Andy was upset with her for not going to their regular one. And Bee thought she’d gotten a great deal till they actually ate the beef.
Personally in my case though, I’m not that picky of an eater. Just cook it medium rare and sauce it. It’d be good enough. Even the lesser cuts of beef are good if you prepare them right.

Quite… The point being, something cheap might only be cheap because it’s not worth a whole lot. But it’s not always true, sometimes deals do show up that are worth the price and splurge (like my frozen yogurt find.)

Yes I remember that episode. She didn’t just buy cheap beef. The freezer was also crap because she bought it used as well. And she kept trying to say it was a good deal, even though the freezer was clunking around and barely worked. Then it broke down, and they hired the most inept handyman to fix it, Gomer Pile. And he just made it worse. And the beef she bought turned out to be some of the worst cuts of the cow, and really just not that good to eat. Andy told her to take the beef to the butcher to store it, and her pride wouldn’t let her. And when she finally caved, she had a bunch of dogs chasing her for the meat she was pulling on a wagon. And at the end of the episode she just got mad at Andy for spending a lot on a brand new freezer.

Remember that Andy Griffith Show episode where Aunt Bee buys a freezer full of cheap Beef or Steak (I forget which) and then doesn’t have a place to store it.
But then again, I just got done buying discounted Organic Frozen Yogurt; about $75 worth (75 pints, roughly) that would have otherwise cost about $338. The differences are that I have a place to keep it, Mother would have wanted to get Ice Cream every week if I hadn’t found this, and it’s all affordable.
But I’m probably talking about a more dramatic difference in price over 1 year; $75 vs about $175 to buy a half gallon of ice cream every week. The food quality’s better, too; it’s more satisfying, beside also having probiotics.

I’ve had enough experience with the wholesale club at this point to know that, if I wait for a coupon on stuff like paper towels or toilet paper, I will use it all up by the time the next coupon rolls around (for the particular brands I want). The only annoyance is storing it in the meantime.
For smaller items like dry cereal, I shamelessly leverage the ability to use the same coupon multiple times (though not in the same trip) if you clip it digitally – because even when I buy multiple club-sized boxes, they stay good so long that I always finish them before they expire.

Be honest: will you, without conscious thought, use all of it?
It’s gotta be something you’ll use up without thinking about it.

But if you can get it cheaper on sale at the grocery store, you’re losing money buying in bulk now!

Buying in bulk doesn’t make sense when you’re already at the store with the shopping cart. It makes sense for the retailer who is shipping several trucks’ worth of cargo at once
But yeah when it says BUY 2 GET 1 FREE you buy 2 get 1 free, don’t buy 20 get 10 free you’ll throw 15 out
