There is no permanent state of the self. It is a phase, every point in your life is a phase. That doesn’t mean it should be dismissed or valued any less. Even if to your eyes it is something they will “grow out of”, it is still their real current self who deserves love and support.

And just to spite what her future self had told her, young Starlight would throw herself completely into the rebellious edgelord lifestyle. Would this change what she looked like in the prime timeline, or is this simply an alternative branch? It mattered little to Edgelight, for she would decide for herself who she was, not letting anyone else determine it for her, not even her other selves from different timelines.
