She got it by making the school play look fantastic with her costumes. Her talent is bringing out the beauty of things and people, her gem spell is just one of her ways of achieving that.

It’s not a very big accomplishment to make more sense than “Magical Mystery Cure”.

really when you think of it Rarity’s actual talent IS mining or whining, she didn’t get her cutie mark for making dresses she got it for yelling at a rock

This would have been quite interesting to see in the show. Kinda wish they did go this route, with the cutie mark included ofcourse.

Makes more sense than what was in the show, at least.
