Sunset for being a petty girl upset of not being made a princess.

Starlight just because her friend moved away, which doesn’t sound all that tragic especially considering she’s shown to have a family in the Parent Map.

I’d go with Sunset mostly because her reason of becoming wasn’t as dumb as Starlight’s and because of all her great songs in Equestria Girls. But Starlight is still a great character and good student for Twilight.

Unfortunately, in the real world, people are individuals who sometimes decide things for themselves on occasion. Maybe the real solution to making these arguments not happen is for you to accept that not everyone likes what you like.

Maybe these arguments wouldn’t be happening if people would stop defending Glimmer. Her “redemption” is still mocked and derided years later for very good reason.

Sunset Shimmer, but not by much, as both suffer from a case of wasted-potential-itis. It’s just that Sunset suffers from it less than Starlight.

I like both, but Sunset’s character has more depth.

First off, I’m not “hanging around to keep watching” I was literally just trying to look for new art and I came across this because op doesn’t know how to properly tag things and this unavoidable chain of events has been happening for years now.
Secondly, me leaving won’t change anything. The only way to fully avoid this crap is to cut out mlp out of my life entirely and somehow wipe my memory clean of it. Sadly I still thoroughly enjoy mlp G4 and I don’t have the power of memory

So, can’t. Love to, but can’t. I’m quite trapped all things considered

You do realize that disagreeing and ignoring are to completely different things, right? And also, augments won’t truly stop until both sides actively stop and just agree to disagree. It’s crystal clear that one or both sides are trying to convince the other to agree with them.

This isn’t a matter discussion anymore (hell it might never have been) it’s about who’s right and who’s wrong. Even if people try and start a civil discussion about it it always goes south for one reason or another. And frankly really needs to stop because it’s just getting old and pathetic at this point

Are we….still going on about this? Three years after the show ended and almost 7 years since the season 5 finale which started this stupid debate in the first place?

Starlight was better as a villain, having an actual ideal and a few good points against Twilight. But she was less interesting as a hero, and most the her good moments came from time shared with Trixie, which revealed some flaws in Twilight. The other good parts had her slide back into being controlling and manipulative, revealing a controlling nature that put her turn to villainy into better perspective than the 30 second flashback she showed Twilight.

Sunset was a pretty poor villain without much of a plan. Her desire to be ‘rewarded’ by ascension to alicorn status in the comic was promising, but never expanded on in Equestria Girls. However, her road to redemption was much better as she faced real consequences and hurdles, but persevered against the Sirens instead of backsliding out of rejection. And even told off Sci-Twi despite her resemblance to Princess Twilight because her actions threatened people she cared for.

I don’t want to see her demonic form again, not even in this image booru, because of its awful design even for a kids show, but despite that, I always loved Sunset and her development arc.

Starlight Glimmer was a good villain (best G4 villain) but her redemption kinda sucked as she was forgiven too easily. Sunset Shimmer was a terrible villain but her redemption was much better written than Starlight’s as she had to earn everyone’s forgiveness.

Both good.
