I’m not convinced that either farming or writing is that young. Egyptian Hieroglyphics pre-date the book of Ezekiel that these Ophanim Angels are mentioned in, and Ezekiel was written somewhere from 950 BC to 600 BC; I forget when. The Exodus was supposed to be in or around 1446 BC. Also, farming is mentioned in the book of Ruth, when she’s gathering Barley; this is before the birth of King David, let alone the book of Ezekiel.

Depends on the type of angel. If it’s the Ophanim (ring angel with eyes,) sure. However, Ophanim weren’t walking into Sodom just before its obliteration; those angels looked just like regular joes. Otherwise, the men in Sodom wouldn’t have called the angels “men,” and the sodomites (R7 warning) wouldn’t have wanted to screw the angels. Because of this, and 2 other times angels show up in the Old Testament and are mistaken to be men, I have difficulty imagining that the angels visibly had wings.
The 2 other times Angels show up and are mistaken to be men are these; 1: when Joseph walks up to one and asks if he’s for them or against them, and 2: when the one announces to the parents of Samson that they will have a son.
Besides, “Angel” is derived from Greek. The original Hebrew word is “Malak” or something close to that, and it translated to “Messenger.”

In That Hideous Strength (sequel to Out of the Silent Planet and Perelandra), there’s a scene where the angels consult with the protagonist to come up with a form that can communicate with humans and eventually settle on something like giant glowing figures with their hair streaming back as they continually move forward to keep up with the planet’s travel through space.
I seem to recall a few mishaps during the process where he had to shade his face and say, “No, no, that’ll probably make people run away from you screaming. Uh, maybe try–” :D

Things can easily get lost in translation, and you also have a cultural divide which could confuse a person reading.
That said, I’m not sure I understand these Ophanim angels, either. I don’t know what their purpose is; why a floating, apparently living ring? Does it mean a living cycle, like seasons? Maybe I can see the eyes part, that the eyes can see all things in all directions. After all, there’s a Bible Proverb that says “The eyes and the ears of YHWH (the LORD) are everywhere, observing the evil and the good.”
