While I do admit the gamer logic behind it is a bit cringe, I still appreciate the lore because it reminds me of my childhood, I grew up in the early 2000s and the Backrooms is heavily reminiscent of various early creepypastas and analog horror. I don’t even really find that stuff “scary” anymore, now it’s just weirdly facinating.
So yeah, it’s really a nostalgia thing for people who grew up with that stuff.
Never really understood the appeal of the backrooms ‘lore’ or the cringy gamer logic behind it (“Dood what if you no-clipped through REALITY, wouldn’t that be poggers?!”) but I can always appreciate the great and powerful, and ambiguously gay, duo that is Trix and GlimGlam.
I don’t think the idea is “gamer” related, I just don’t think there’s a better term for it other than no-clipping.
There’s quite a lot of things that’ll undoubtably spook that sniveling mare-grub, quite a lot of things.

Never find the Backrooms scary either, but I do love all the little films and memes made from it.
