This is a commission for another one of the talented Estee’s stories, “Triptych”. This signature, novel length adventure was the basis for a number of Estee’s works, setting up a unique continuity branching off after the first three seasons of the show. Following Twilight’s transformation into an alicorn, the Mane Six and Spike find themselves on a very personal mission that tests not just their assumptions about Equestria but the very cores of who they are. Twilight must battle through her own self-doubts while unraveling a dark mystery that threatens to crush her and her friends with devastating revelations… all on a “mission” brought forth by the newly (and questionably) reformed Discord. I found it richly written with unique worldbuilding around comfortably recognizable characterization enhanced with some appreciated depth. Highly recommended!

Ultimately, the story would be published across three volumes. The above image comes from the first volume, featuring Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie introducing Twilight to their “first friend”, Doctor Gentle Arrival, who helped bring them into this world.
