The amount of caffeine in your typical soft drink varies depending on the drink. Coca-cola as well as its diet counterpart has between 32–42 mg of caffeine per 12 oz (~335 mL). Mt. Dew has about 54 mg in the same amount. Root beer is caffeine free unless otherwise stated.

For the record, your average 8 oz serving of coffee contains 95–120 mg of caffeine if it's just your standard brew. Espresso has about 64 mg in a 1 oz serving (please for the love of God do not drink a full cup of espresso). Instant coffee we'll have much less than if it were to be brewed from coffee beans. And for obvious reasons an 8 oz serving of decaf has ≤2 mg; note that decaf does not mean caffeine free it just means that the amount of caffeine is so low that it's not going to matter.

The maximum recommend dose of caffeine is 400 mg a day, and keep in mind caffeine has an average half-life of 4–5 hours (This can vary between 1.5 to 9.5 depending on your metabolism, genetics, and other factors). Use this information accordingly as even a little caffeine can affect your sleep. If it's just a single diet coke each day, I don't think you're going to have much of a problem though.
