I never saw the g4 movie. Even to this daw, I have not. When I saw the trailers, it didn’t look like the ponies I’ve seen on tv was doing anything in the movie that they haven’t done on their show already. The animation quality was just significantly higher and they had celebrity guest VAs but for me, the adventure was nothing they already did. I did watch Double Toasted’s review on it and how they talked about Spike burning people to death.
Was g4 movie also PG? I know g5 was PG. I loved the g5 dystopian setting. Imagine all the corrupted world building coming from it.

The first EG came out around the height of the MLP fandom, so it’s understandable that people were able to reach that number even without critics caring for it. The number of professional reviews for ANG would likely be higher if they didn’t skip the theaters, but for people like me who would never bother going to the theaters to see it, it being on Netflix is the better deal.

As I said on the other upload talking about this, despite the filmmaker’s best efforts, the g4 movie still assumed a degree of familiarity with the show in order to fully appreciate, hence why reviewers and normie audience members weren’t too hot towards the movie.
I’d think of it like the DBZ movies, where in order to get invested and understand what’s going on, it helps to have watched the show, and they don’t stand too well on their own merits.
