Most people don’t know this but parents like Phyllis exist in real life. They would tell their kid dumb stuff like “Don’t play with that boy. His parents are republicans.” or “Don’t play with that girl. She has two gay dads as parents.” And it really screws up the kid in life but that doesn’t mean they can’t change later on.
I can see an episode of the new series that is a social commentary on Cancel Culture. That’s when someone gets bullied on social media because they posted something bad 10 years ago on their time line. Some people lose their jobs over that.
Imagine this Sprout episode. Sprout trying to prove he’s changed but the ponies of Maretime Bay don’t believe him. Not even his mother. Then one day, the town gets attacked by a stray ursa major because magical creatures started returning when magic was restored. Sprout doesn’t want to help out because why would he care about ponies that don’t care about him? This is where Izzy’s infinite optimism comes in. She can see the goodness in anything and anyone no matter how dark it can be. (If you don’t believe that you are not an Izzy fan.) She tells Sprout that she believes he is a good pony. It creates an s-link in him that motivates him to use his giant robot to fight the ursa major and protect the town against real danger this time.
